1) Show the plugins.groovy and routes.groovy files in the WEB-INF folder in the Gaelyk project diagram. They are currently absent from the diagram. 2 Put a star or some other icon next to the mandatory plugins folder and the 2 mandatory plugin files (plugins.groovy and the plugin descriptor file) in the diagram. This will help show that one just needs to mix in in these files with the rest of their own project's files.

Here is the approach I would probably take unless you have many hundreds of child tasks. I would keep a list of keys of all children of each project/task. (You can then do a db.get and get all immediate children with single call) and each child has a reference to it's parent. In addition in each item keep a list of all parents keys back to the root. That way you can search for all children in part of the tree/subtree (This approach is especially useful if you have multiple child types) as back ref sets are kind specific. Keep a  running count of complete children at each level, rather than trying to calculate the current state in a single big function,  (keep these subsidiary values up to date through tasks)

GaeVFS is an Apache Commons VFS plug-in that implements a distributed, writeable virtual file system for Google App Engine (GAE) for Java. You don't have to add each class individually to the black list. there are few jars like appengine-testing.jar appengine-local-rutime-shared.jar etc. Basically when you create a new GAE project the eclipse plugin copies some jars automatically in war folder, which are required when you will be running ur application on GAE server, but it doesnt copy few test jars which are required only for local dev env and testing. So what i did i compared jars in my war folder and GAE SDK installed folder. I found that few of jars not included so i included all in my Eclipse build path/Junit run path(but didnt copy into war folder) and that worked for me and then i didnt care to check which were the jars actually needed and which were not as i included all jars. But somehow in docs they have mentioned to included only one or two jars and with these jars junit doesnt work.

Cold-start latency is determined by the time it takes to load all the classes needed to handle the request. If you upload a JAR file, but nothing references it, it won't be loaded, and thus won't affect your cold-start latency.

Only those jars under WEB-INF/lib will be uploaded to GAE. You can prevent GWT jars from being uploaded by not placing them under WEB-INF/lib, rather by externally linking to them in your project build path.
