Book sharing across the globe with Catholic Schools. I was thinking of your fantastic, well developed blog when I saw this article. Don't know if you would be interested but it certainly sounds like a great, world sharing project. May I have a user name and password to your blog. And permission to share what you have done with St. Thomas Aquinas and Sisters Academy. We won't write anything just observe once or twice. Your work is so important!

Hello Robin, I like almost all your suggestions, but not this one. I found the Quick Start Window a bit clunky. Also, having to add a Name and Web Address for each new site seemed cumbersome. I really like having the Diigo Bookmark on my Toolbar. I might have pursued Porta Portal further if it had imported all my bookmarks from delicious, Diigo, Firefox Bookmarks and IE Bookmarks - with existing folders and categories - but these are comments I should make to them. In any case, keep your suggestions coming!

Hi Theodore, Yes, it does take an extra step. However, when I am at school and I don't have all my favorites in front of me or on my tool bar, it is a quick easy way to find them. Also, the kids can be at their friend's house and want to show them a site and instead of possibly going to dangerous territory they have the exact link in their portaportal. I see your point, too, though. Thanks for commenting. Robin

Digital Literacy - 2 views

  •
This Digital Literacy Toolkit began with the premise that multimedia authoring, which is happening with the extensive use of PowerPoint in classrooms, must be taught as a skill, just as traditional text-based writing is taught. While teachers and students have become familiar with the technical skills required to use images in multimedia productions, they lack a critical language to determine whether an image or a sound is used appropriately.
