Texas elector says he will not cast his vote for Donald Trump - CNNPolitics.com - 7 views

  •
"A Texas elector said Monday that enough is enough -- he will not cast his vote for President-elect Donald Trump as part of the Electoral College process on December 19."
  • ...1 more comment...
  •
The electors do have a right to not cast their vote for Trump even if he did win that state. If the electors feel that he is a legitimate danger, they are qualified to make that call for themselves.
  •
Although they have the right to choose and refuse to vote, this is the reason that some people don't vote, because the electoral college can just ignore the majority vote and do whatever. Although they should have the right to vote how they want, if they do there will probably be less people who feel like they made a difference in the process.
  •
This is not right at all the people want Donald Trump as president. People spoke they want Donald. If they really do represent there state maybe they should cast there vote even if they like Trump or not. This is getting old they need to get over it. Trump is our president.

The 5 Easiest and 5 Most Difficult Promises for Donald Trump to Keep - 1 views

  •
I think any president makes promises they can't keep, but that's part of getting elected. At least other presidents have made realistic promises, but I think Trump's promises during his campaign were just fabricated lies to get people to vote for him. How dull can voters be if they think this man would actually build a giant wall between America and Mexico and make them pay for it?

Why Trump's phone call with Taiwan's president is a big deal - 5 views

  •
Donald Trump has been ruffling diplomatic feathers since he was elected by casually talking to world leaders without first getting guidance from the State Department. He's already angered close allies like Britain and India, but his latest phone call threatens to do far more damage.

10 minutes that could change US-China history - CNN.com - 6 views

  •
"The 10-minute conversation between US President-elect Donald Trump and Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen was a major break in the accepted protocol -- something that evidently does not much bother Mr. Trump. It is, of course, too soon to guess whether it was a fluke or a portent of a sea change in American policy."

President Obama Claims He Cannot Pardon Snowden; He's Wrong | Techdirt - 17 views

  •
"President Obama Claims He Cannot Pardon Snowden; He's Wrong"
  • ...9 more comments...
  •
Obama is claiming he can't and wont pardon Edward Snowden, also known as the most famous whistleblower in our governments history, solely because he hasn't stood before a court. The president CAN pardon him, but decides not to. Snowden would appear before a court if he knew it'd be a fair trial, but he knows that wont happen. He knows how tyrannous the government is and wont even attempt to have a fair trial.
  •
I agree with Deven because as soon as Snowden steps foot on United States soil he's getting thrown into federal prison and then going to go on trial and not win because it wouldn't be a fair trial
  •
Deven is correct on this one. The thing I find interesting is that Obama said that if Trump pardons Snowden then he will pardon Clinton, the problem with that is Clinton wasn't convicted of anything.
  •
Zayne brought up the Clinton situation, I agree with that because you can't pardon somebody who wasn't convicted of anything, so how would he pardon him?
  •
Snowden shouldn't be pardoned because what he did was against the government policy, even though he was trying to tell america what our government was doing he still violated the law.
  •
In this article, one paragraph says that Obama pardoned three Iranian Americans before they stood trial. So in a way I think Obama is just using his opinion and not giving Snowden a chance. It's truly unfair that if he steps on US soil he will be thrown in jail, when really he just wants a chance to explain himself
  •
I agree with the president on forgiving him because we deserve to know this information.
  •
I think Obama could have pardoned him but is choosing not to. The fact that he's saying that he's not able to is ridiculous. Though what he did was considered against the law, sometimes we need people to go against in order to uncover hidden truths.
  •
On the idea of pardoning Snowden, I agree with Nate because although the information he had should have been told to the public, just in a different way, he broke major laws, so there must be consequences. And going off of Devin's idea of no fair trial is inevitable.
  •
I agree with Lauren because Obama had Pardoned people in the past even though they to hadn't been on trial, so his motives don't make since, I believe that his judgement is what is causing this. I don't believe he wants to pardon him, if he did, than this wouldn't be an issue, it already would be done.
  •
I agree with Lauren because the president has enough authority to make those decisions.

The election really was rigged - 7 views

  •
A voting scandal of epic proportion tilted this election. The scam involved millions of people. No, I'm not talking about the recount the Clinton campaign joined in Wisconsin and may seek in Michigan and Pennsylvania. Hillary Clinton and her aides were correct before, when they said voting fraud is rare.
  •
This article was really interesting in the authors view point. The author's title is the first interesting point in this because when it says "The election really was rigged", people automatically assume it has something to do with Hillary or Trump, but the author gets down to the real point of the matter, which is the cause of the states new rules and such.

Unemployment Rate Hits Lowest Level Since Financial Crisis - 1 views

  •
Donald Trump's presidential victory may have caused some employers to hit the pause button, but not many. In the first jobs report since Trump was elected president, employers added slightly fewer positions than expected in November. Nonetheless, the unemployment rate dropped unexpectedly to 4.6%.
  •
I think this is a great thing because he talked about doing this and he did.

Unemployment Rate Drops To 4.6 Percent, Lowest Level Since 2007 - 1 views

  •
Unemployment dropped by 0.3 percentage points, to 4.6 percent, last month - the lowest rate since 2007 - according to the monthly jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The report says the U.S. added 178,000 new jobs in November. That's about what economists had expected.
  •
This is definitely beneficial to the economy that there are more people in the country working, though the decrease in wages seems bad, the overall benefit is much greater. And plus its still greater than it was last year so it's all good

The reality behind Russia's fake news - CNNPolitics.com - 7 views

  •
"The 2016 presidential race was rife with disinformation, none more blatant than fake news -- hoaxes, half-truths, outright lies -- that flashed through the internet at warp speed."
  •
When it comes to important news stories about the presidential candidates especially around this time, the truth gets thrown around so much. People sometimes believe what ever they read. This just happened to get blown out of proportion.
  •
This doesn't surprise me. I feel like people forget how communism influences its people and what they think.
