Congress to Pentagon: Hand Over the War Budget - 0 views

  •
The administration wants to wait to release its war budget, but it might not get its way if some members of Congress have anything to say about it. Pentagon officials have said that they are holding off on releasing the overseas contingency operations budget-which oversees war funds-until after a bilateral security agreement with Afghanistan is signed. If completed, it would determine U.S. military involvement in the country after 2014.

Yet another theory is taking shape about what might have happened to missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370: Maybe it landed in a remote Indian Ocean island chain.

Obama wants to expand overtime pay - 1 views

  •
President Obama will ask the Labor Department on Thursday to issue tougher rules on overtime, which could lead to extra pay for millions of workers who aren't currently paid for extra hours of work.

I think people should get paid for overtime hours! I think that would be a great idea, it would encourage people to work more. Also, if people work more than they are suppose to, they should get rewarded, and I think paying them more would be a great reward.
  •
I think Obama realizes that some Americans work overtime, because they NEED too! Some families have trouble supporting themselves with the jobs they have. So, getting paid more for extra hours would help out a lot.
  •
I like that he is going to attempt at raising overtime pay and issuing tougher enforcement for them. Most people who work overtime because they probably need to get the extra money. The only downside to this raise I currently see just from what the article stated is how there will be a possibility of the companies and businesses possibly laying off workers to keep up with their own income.

    Good job, Obama!

Are Veterans Getting the Money They Deserve in Latest Budget? - 2 views

  •
Veterans are definitely NOT getting the budget they deserve! My Dad was in the Navy for 22 years and we are now retired with a budget that we cannot live on alone. He has to find a job with little luck and it is a struggle from paycheck to paycheck. I personally think Veterans deserve more retirement money for the years and hard work they've put into this country.

Creighton Prep on Wednesday announced it's implementing mandatory and random drug and alcohol testing for all students.

RE: Eric, Creighton Prep is a private high school so none of the students are 21. This is a really interesting case of your right to privacy. If this were a public high school like ours, I believe the courts would not allow this type of drug/alcohol testing without a suspicion for ALL students. (4th Amendment rights?)
  •
It is not invading our 4th amendment rights because most jobs require drug tests so why cant *Private* School do the same.
  •
I think that this is a good idea if students don't take it they should be kicked out of the school.
  •
i think this is a good idea because you can't really play good when your on drugs and you could really get hurt.

Is The Flight 370 Disappearance An Act of Terrorism? - 0 views

  •
People have been speculating that the known flight path made a complete U-Turn from its destined path, however, they talked about two men who forged or faked their passports to board the plane.
  •
It is amazing that in 2014 we can lose track of a plane with 200 people missing. The transponder being shut off(?) or broken seems the most confusing part.

Stadium deaths: What's behind the fatal falls - 1 views

  •
It happened again Sunday. A woman leaped from the third level of the Oakland Coliseum during the Raiders football game. She survived the 40 to 50-foot drop when a Marine vet who happened to be leaving the stadium shielded her fall with his body. But others have not been so fortunate.
  •
Right..when you think you know It all..this happens.
  •
It's not people being "so stupid". Many people don't think :"If i catch this ball I might fall to my death". I understand some had drugs in their systems, others jumped, and others just fell. That doesn't make them stupid.

Federal prosecutors say they'll seek the death penalty against Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, arguing that he acted in "an especially heinous, cruel and depraved manner" and lacks remorse.
  •
Going along with the Republican/Democratic Ideologies, Left-winged folks will probably be less for a death penalty, while Right-winged folks will probably more support it. At least that's what our notes say. Correct me if I'm wrong.
