  •
By Linda Sieg and Elaine Lies TOKYO (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama has said Washington welcomes China's rise but that engagement with Beijing would not come at the expense of its Asian allies - as Chinese state media greeted his arrival in the region with a broadside accusing the United States of wanting to "cage" the emerging superpower.

Guns and Gun Control- News - Times Topics - The New York Times - 0 views

  •
For three decades, the story of gun control was one of notorious crimes and laws passed in response, beginning with the federal law that followed the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968.

Need to follow up on this story while discussing 2nd Amendment.

Sexual Exploitation Conviction Overturned, Coach Without Teaching Certificate Not A Sch... - 2 views

  •
"A divided Iowa Supreme Court has thrown out the sexual exploitation conviction of a former Bloomfield High School basketball coach who had sex with a 16-year-old girl claiming he doesn't fit the definition of a school employee under state law."
  •
I'm surprised he made such a narrow dodge of the charges. But we should find a way to get rid of this loop-hole, even then he is over 4 years of age difference with her. And the state law does say ages 13-18 can be with any lover as long as they're within four years of their age. So he should receive some punishment.

I don't understand why someone would do this, especially without a good reason for it.
  •
It is crazy that a young kid would do something like this. Sending 2 people straight to surgery.
  •
I wonder what could have caused him to do this. He hasn't shown any signs of motive probably because he had so little involve in the social media.

Chimp attack victim appeals to legislators for permission to sue Connecticut - 4 views

This is crazy. But I do agree that is wasnt the states fault for her injuries. I do agree that it was the owners though.

I feel sorry about what happened to her but I don't think it is the sates fault that she was attacked. They weren't the ones that had the chimp as a pet her friend did.
  •
WOW. This is pretty interesting. I don't think that it is the states fault. It was her friends pet not the states. If there was anyone to sue I think it should be the friend. But it truly isn't anyone's fault.
  •
I feel that they should not be sued. It was not really their fault.

That is absolutely ridiculous that the school would ban that girl for shaving her head. Since when is baldness a violation of dress code? She was supporting her friend going through cancer and I think that should be rewarded instead of punished.
  •
This is sad, she was just trying to support her friend.
  •
She shouldn't have been punished for this. Why is shaving your head against the dress code? It doesn't make sense.
  •
I've gone to Grand Junction a lot as a kid and know people there, so it surprises me to find out that they are discriminating a cancer patient at a school.

I wonder, with things like this happening, if we're really making things as secure as they should be.
  •
The only reason he was able to do this was because the building is not finished on the inside. More security will be added once the inside is finished. Cameras, Alarms, etc.
  •
I'm pretty sure that elevator operator was fired over this. How do you let some kid convince you to take you up a building that is unfinished?

i wonder how he convinced people to get up to the top, how did they not figure out that he wasn't supuse to be there
