Ted Cruz cites 'long historical precedent' of SCOTUS vacancies - CNNPolitics.com - 2 views

  •
"Sen. Ted Cruz signaled Wednesday his interest in slow-walking any new Supreme Court appointments to fill the seat vacated by Antonin Scalia's death, arguing that there is precedent for leaving the ninth seat vacant."
  •
I think they're really having trouble with the vacant seat, leaving it open or filling it, at least at some point. I think they should fill it, if not now then maybe soon, and let's hope that it will be a good person at a good time.

Donald Trump walked off a 1990 CNN interview when asked tough questions about his casino - 6 views

  •
It's something Trump has done before. In a 1990 CNN interview reviewed by CNN's KFile, Trump walked off an interview when reporter Charles Feldman pressed him on questions over the financial stability of his Atlantic City casinos. The interview took place in March 1990, just days before Trump's billion dollar Atlantic City casino, the Trump Taj Mahal, was set to open.
  •
Donald Trump walking off when he was pressed to answer questions about his casino make me want to know why he really walked off instead of just saying an excuse. Is he hiding something? Trump lashed out and said "You aren't going to talk about positive people. You'll talk about the negative. You want to talk about the negative." I understand that you should say positive things about people, but you should also be able to hear about the negative too because it is good to know.

Michelle Obama: The Clinton surrogate that could finish off Trump - 6 views

  •
"When they go low," Clinton says on the campaign trail, "We go high," her supporters shout back. In 2008 and 2012, President Barack Obama's campaign aides anointed Michelle Obama "The Closer." This year, Hillary Clinton may well designate her most popular surrogate the starter, the reliever and the pinch-hitter, too.
  •
The first lady, Michelle Obama has been known for her ability to persuade and has since been called "the closer" for her husbands previous campaigns. Just recently Mrs. Obama opened up with sexual assault cases against Trump, (not to her of course but past charges or claims). Thus being the second time this year alone that Michelle has connected with her audience and left her point clear with support.
  •
In her speeches you can tell she is very passionate about what she is saying. She is a democrat so many will say she's only taking Hillary's side because of that, but it goes deeper than that. She believes that Hillary winning will have people standing up against Trump and his bad comments towards women. She doesn't think that what he says is an okay thing for anyone to say, especially someone who might become our president.

Raid! National Guard, State Police descend on 81-year-old's property to seize... - 8 views

  •
"Margaret Holcomb said she was growing the plant as medicine, a way to ease arthritis and glaucoma and help her sleep at night. Tucked away in a raspberry patch and separated by a fence from any neighbors, the plant was nearly ready for harvest when a military-style helicopter and police descended on Sept. 21."

She had one plant and they had to raid her whole property, that might be a little extreme
  •
It is ridiculous that they just come in and do all of this over ONE plant used to ease arthritis and such.
  •
All of that for just ONE plant, wow. Might be a little over the top.
  •
Its surprising that they went through the troubles of deploying a helicopter and wasted very expensive fuel just to seize some marijuana plants when they could have just drove to the houses and told them what was up and took the contraband.
  •
Its just a plant and everyone is freakin out about it, ridiculous
  •
Maybe she needs a marijuana card, but she has arthritis and glaucoma, and they seem to be overreacting to any marijuana anywhere, but people do need legal cards. I hope she will be able to grow another plant, use it well and be able to pay for it.

Justices see racism in inmate's death sentence - 4 views

"The Supreme Court heard the first of several cases on its 2016 docket involving racial discrimination Wednesday and left little doubt: The justices know it when they see it."
  •
Buck needs better lawyers. I hope they do not execute him. I hope the justices can clear this up.
  •
It made me kinda angry when it said that he got a death sentence instead of life imprisonment, because he would be more dangerous in the future because he is black. That makes no sense to me. the color of your skin doesn't effect the person you are or at least it shouldn't. Any person can be violent.

Senate to vote Wednesday to override 9/11 lawsuit bill veto - CNNPolitics.com - 7 views

  •
"The Senate will vote Wednesday to override President Barack Obama's veto of a bill to give victims and families of the 9/11 terrorist attacks the legal right to sue Saudi Arabia for any purported role in the plot, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday."

I like what he is trying to do by helping those people, but I also think that it isn't worth it. It happened so long ago that they should bring up all of the pain again. Everyone might not sue them but if so many people do then that sounds to me like an unfair trial kind of thing. A lot of money against them I don't think they should get this law passed. Also that may hurt the whole city and the whole city didn't want those attacks to happen, only the extremist. Taking away that money from the city can make it fail.
  •
In my opinion people need to get over the whole 9/11 attack. Sure it was a big deal, but the culprits have been found and executed. This whole thing with Saudi Arabia being involved is absolutely ludicrous.
  •
I agree with Obama that those people should not have the right to sue Saudi Arabis because its not all those peoples fault.

I can't help but say that the debates are where we see the best/worst in a candidate not when were watching the news or reading a paper.
  •
I think that in this case they are just like getting back at each other and being dramatic like that isn't what presidency is about at all, and if they are being childish now who knows what the future holds, nobody wants a childish president.
  •
The debates have effected very little votes this time around, not to mention, the candidates just bicker like nine year old kids. It's a waste of everyone's time, we don't learn any more about their ideas, we just hear them attack each other on how one deleted emails and how the other is sexist and wants to build a wall.
  •
In the debate they were trying to attack each other and their private stuff like the emails Clinton had deleted and Trump saying he hasn't paid taxes and they haven't said anything about their plans to "try" and make America great again.
  •
The debates - at least so far - have only helped Hillary's increase of voters. It appears that more and more people are figuring out that Donald Trump can be compared to that kid in elementary school who always has the same comback of "I know you are but what am I?". Personally, I don't like either of our candidates because I'm against some of both of their views, but I believe the debates are a waste of time. The largest reason people watch - in my opinion - is to see how many times Trump will interrupt Hillary, and how much they bicker.
  •
The 2 candidates in my opinion are very in maturate. Neither of them should be running for president. Also I think more people are starting to realize how bad Trump is for our country because Hillary's increase of voters.
  •
The debates have only proven that voters are now leaning more toward Hillary instead of Donald Trump because it brought up his past statements and views.

Unprecedented and Unlawful: The NSA's "Upstream" Surveillance | Just Security - 4 views

"First disclosed as part of the Snowden revelations, Upstream surveillance involves the NSA's bulk interception and searching of Americans' international Internet communications - including emails, chats, and web-browsing traffic"

The government is looking into all of our emails, letters and phone calls, the Constitution doesn't think that's very fair or right, that seem to not do that without good reason. The government explains how they do it, but not why they do it, well, only a little; to look for terrorists. Maybe the government does look too much into our mails and phone calls, what if there's something private, or not private but more people know about it than nessesary
  •
Supposedly the government is looking into private emails, and listening to phone calls to increase the security of the nation by monitoring things for terrorism. However this is the only insight given by the NSA. If it was just about terrorism that could be justifiable, but if the government is just looking through things to look for anything illegal, then the government is breaking the 4th amendment in which they do not have warrant, consent, or probable cause to look through your emails,
  •
I don't think the government should look into our private communications unless they have a lead on someone as a terrorist because there is a lot of innocent people who the government are looking at their private communications.
