U.S. Supreme Court ends fight over Obama-era net neutrality rules - 5 views

  •
"The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused a request by the Trump administration and the telecommunications industry to wipe away a lower court decision that had upheld Obama-era net neutrality rules aimed at ensuring a free and open internet, though the justices' action does not undo the 2017 repeal of the policy."

Kavanaugh’s confirmation all but assured - POLITICO - 7 views

  •
I still find it quite astonishing that he was confirmed onto the Supreme Court, just for the sole fact that his accusations were those of pretty serious ones. No matter if he was found guilty or not, I believe that people will still have that distrust in him, which is really hard since he should be looked up to as the highest honorary power in the United States.
  •
I think its astonishing that even after he was found not guilty you still believe he shouldn't be on the supreme court. He's had a pretty good run in the court systems working as a clerk and a partner in a law firm he was nominated to be a judge by George W Bush. Now he's on the supreme court. I'd say that's a pretty successful career. But he shouldn't have this job due to accusations?I believe that's wrong
  •
I think Kavanaugh being accepted was the right decision. The accusations that the women had made about him were not proven to be true nor false so you can't punish a man for something he possibly didn't do, innocent until proven guilty. The women also came forward right as they heard he was in the running to be on supreme court, the actions that they took was very suspicious.

Trump threatens to 'get involved' with the FBI - 4 views

  •
I can agree with Trump when he speaks about how our Justice department is not 'dancing to his beat' as they put it. With the Hillary example, she did multiple acts that if anyone else did, would be punished and have the appropriate consequences. Then here we are with a past nominee who is still not facing charges due to her actions.

Twitter wants to crack down on 'dehumanizing language' - 6 views

  •
"The "hateful conduct" policy prohibits users from making direct attacks or threats against people on the basis of considerations like race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender, for example, but it doesn't necessarily also encompass tweets that dehumanize users in different ways."
  •
How will twitter actually be successful in cracking down on 100% of the dehumanizing language without stepping on some free speech toes?

3d Guns - 15 views

"The owner of a company that builds 3D-printed guns said he has begun selling blueprints of the weapons to elude a court order on Monday that banned him from giving the plans away for free."

Yeah, I thought that this was interesting. I read this at home. I'm just concerned that people will be using these for illegal reasons, though.
  •
I thought that this article was very interesting in the fact that someone found a way to create guns using a 3-D printer. I do however think that this wasn't the best thing to do in today's day in age with all of the school shootings going on and the debate between that, and the fact that anyone can buy the blueprints for any price is a little on the scary side.
  •
Yes I agree with"Brooke Wohlers" the whole 3-D printing guns is very scary with everything happening today. I believe it should not be allowed for many reasons of school shootings.
  •
The fact that now people can just 3-D print a gun just makes me feel that the gun-related violence will rise.
  •
It was always a cool idea of someone making a 3-D printed gun (or 3-D printed anything), but now that it is a very realistic thing it is kind of alarming that anyone with with a 3-D printer can make one and not have a permit to carry especially if these 3-D printed guns can be as harmful as others. Cody Wilson, The founder of of Defense Distributed, said he would sell the the blueprints. That is easy access to anyone that has the money.
  •
You could really print anything with a 3d printer. It is scary the things you can do.
