"Biden's victory was a repudiation of Trump's divisive leadership and the president-elect now inherits a deeply polarized nation grappling with foundational questions of racial justice and economic fairness while in the grips of a virus that has killed more than 236,000 Americans and reshaped the norms of everyday life."

Global reactions have ranged from "Get well soon" to "I told you so" to even more blunt "wishes" for Trump. Remember that we are discussing this in an educational context for those who are going to comment on this situation. How do you think this is going to affect the election with only 32 days until the election?

I think it's good he got it because he's learning how serious it really is. sometimes it takes the first-hand experience to realize the truth about something. I think this is a slap in the face to some of the republicans that didn´t believe it.

I think it's kinda like karma for making fun of joe for wearing his mask all the time, although it does make him look bad because the president of our country makes fun of people for protecting themselves and taking covid seriously.
Facebook Quietly Suspended Political Group Recommendations Ahead Of The US Presidential... - 1 views

Personally, I think this was a good move on Facebook's part. People should not be bombarded with fake news and tons of group recommendations especially around voting times. Those who vote should choose who they see fit to better our country and solve the social problems we have today. Fake news on social media is a problem all around, suspending political group recommendations is the least I think Facebook could do during these times.
-
I think this is smart and allows less of a chance of changing someone's vote or sharing fake news
-
I think this is smart because there is a lot of bias going on and a lot of fake news that may make it seem like one side is something that it's not.
US Sets Highest Number of New COVID-19 Cases Over the Weekend | AllSides - 5 views

One of my parent's co-worker's brother is an anesthesiologist and he was scheduled for hip surgery, but there was also something else wrong with the man's hip that was deadly like a disease or something like that. The man also had covid 19. The man, unfortunately, passed away because of his hip, but because he had coivd19 it was said he died of covid when he did not. I think that it is important for the public to know this because not all these people are getting covid 19 are not always dying from it.

People are not going out in masks as often and not taking the safety precautions that they were when this all first hit so I think that is why the cases are rising.
-
A lot of people aren't taking this seriously and are going into public places without masks on, or they're wearing the mask incorrectly, not sanitizing the correct ways, and simply aren't being safe.

Picture from Elkhorn South High School football game sparks controversy - 5 views

"6 News spoke with the principal of the high school, Mark Kalvoda. He said the picture was taken out of context. He said the picture shown online does not tell the full story."

I definitely think that I would be uncomfortable if I was at a football game and seen this. There was no reason for these boys to do this ad all they wanted to do was cause a problem. A high school football game is not the place to do this or involve politics with it

I don't think the students were trying to start stuff they were just showing their political opinion and no one should get mad about it because everyone is entitled to their own political views.

Pfizer CEO says COVID vaccine will not be ready by Election Day. - 2 views

From what this article said, it's starting to feel like Trump is just going to use the vaccine and the pandemic as a campaign advertisement just like he did with the Mexican American wall. He's already showed the people he's incapable of keeping his promises and to make one as serious as the vaccine seems immoral.
-
I definitely think that the talk about a vaccine and medication plays a big part in his campaign advertising and that it really shouldn't be. Considering he can't just make one out of thin air, and even if there was a vaccine made, he can't take credit for the hard work of the multiple scientists and doctors that ACTUALLY worked on it. I agree with the comment above, it seems immoral.
Perspectives: Columbus Day 2020 | AllSides - 3 views

As a person with a family of immigrants, I believe that seeing "Columbus Day" isn't correct and better off with calling it Indigenous peoples' day due to Native Americans already living throughout the entirety of the North American continent. I wanna know if other people see it as Columbus Day of Indigenous peoples day.
-
I think we should start sharing who all these people part of American history really were because growing up, social studies class always made it seem like Columbus was a hero that discovered a continent and came and had a party with the native Americans where they ate turkey which is why we now have thanksgiving. I think we deserved to know the truth.
-
The idea that we should continue to celebrate this racist colonizer as a hero is absurd. Instead honor Indigenous people and their culture. Altogether Columbus was a person who should not be memorialized and celebrated as his actions against Native Americans are simply atrocious
