3d Guns - 15 views

"The owner of a company that builds 3D-printed guns said he has begun selling blueprints of the weapons to elude a court order on Monday that banned him from giving the plans away for free."

Yeah, I thought that this was interesting. I read this at home. I'm just concerned that people will be using these for illegal reasons, though.
  •
I thought that this article was very interesting in the fact that someone found a way to create guns using a 3-D printer. I do however think that this wasn't the best thing to do in today's day in age with all of the school shootings going on and the debate between that, and the fact that anyone can buy the blueprints for any price is a little on the scary side.
  •
Yes I agree with"Brooke Wohlers" the whole 3-D printing guns is very scary with everything happening today. I believe it should not be allowed for many reasons of school shootings.
  •
The fact that now people can just 3-D print a gun just makes me feel that the gun-related violence will rise.
  •
It was always a cool idea of someone making a 3-D printed gun (or 3-D printed anything), but now that it is a very realistic thing it is kind of alarming that anyone with with a 3-D printer can make one and not have a permit to carry especially if these 3-D printed guns can be as harmful as others. Cody Wilson, The founder of of Defense Distributed, said he would sell the the blueprints. That is easy access to anyone that has the money.
  •
You could really print anything with a 3d printer. It is scary the things you can do.

Super rich should pay more in taxes considering they have enough money to buy gold cars
  •
I think sports team should give up some there money because they are always going to make that money back .

You can't help but get a little concerned when remembering the gilded age. Especially what followed such as the Panic of 1893.

Puerto Rico schools may not reopen for weeks - CNN - 6 views

  •
The fact Trump is sitting there on twitter criticizing them and not helping to try to make it better is horrible, He's being extremely rude and it's almost embarrassing to even say he's our President. It sounds as though things are starting to get better in Puerto Rico, but they still need help.
  •
This is a miracle. It's amazing that these people are ok. There is things that need rebuilt but the damage wasn't as bad as I was thinking it was going to be.

We need real gun control so stuff like this doesn't happen as often, he bought guns himself! They need to increase the age on getting a gun, many background checks even mental history before giving a "broken" child a gun. This is a real issue.
  •
US government should think about gun control seriously, we should not have this accident any more.
  •
At the end of this article they called Cruz a "broken child" and I do not like when people refer to him as that because I feel as if they use that as a way of trying to justify what he did which is wrong to me.

World's richest 1% grabbed 82% of all wealth created in 2017, Oxfam study finds - 1 views

"Oxfam says the trend shows that the global economy is skewed in favor of the rich, rewarding wealth instead of work."

It seems that CEOs and company owners are taking wealth for themselves, rather than investing it back into their businesses. I think that, if this trend continues, it could lead to devastating effects on the economy.

Donald Trump thinks not clapping for him is 'treasonous' - CNNPolitics - 8 views

shared by alarkin on 06 Feb 18 - No Cached
  •
Well in the article it says "He was joking! He didn't even say that it was treasonous! He was just agreeing with people who said it was treasonous!"
  •
If this is true then it is very discerning that Trump would agree that not clapping for him is treasonous. After all, isn't America supposed to be where you can state your ideals without getting punished?
  •
"What Trump is saying is that dissent -- which is what Democrats are doing when they choose not to clap for a line in his speech -- is traitorous and/or un-American."

Alabama death row inmate Vernon Madison gets reprieve - CNN - 5 views

  •
"Given Alabama's rejection of judicial override, the death sentence in this case constitutes cruel and unusual punishment and violates Mr. Madison's rights to a jury, fair and reliable sentencing and to due process and equal protection of the laws as guaranteed by the Fifth, Sixth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution and Alabama law," they wrote in their petition."
  •
I understand that Madison has become mentally ill and doesn't have memory of the crime he committed, but he still committed the crime and was sentenced to the death penalty at first. However, due to an Alabama law no longer allowing the death penalty I think life without parole would be a good alternative for him.
  •
"Mr. Madison suffers from vascular dementia as a result of multiple serious strokes in the last several years, and no longer has a memory of the commission of the crime for which he is to be executed," How does this make the crimes he has committed go away?

YouTube Removes 17,000 Channels for Hate Speech | Hollywood Reporter - 16 views

  •
"The Google-owned company also removed 100,000 videos, a spike in takedowns since its new hate speech policy went into effect in June."
  •
it seems kind of stupid to me that they would do that usually they will give people a warning to take down the video that violates there rules but I guess they decided to just give up on them.
  •
I think that the arguments arising around Youtube, Facebook, etc. are interesting. Because, while they are private corporations with the ability to regulate their material how they please, they are also communication platforms. And being communication platforms, they have to conform to certain laws. They have to guarantee everyone a right to be seen and heard.

Alabama abortion law passed: Alabama just passed a near-total abortion ban with no exce... - 3 views

  •
I agree with this law and feel like it should be the same in every state. There are millions of families out there who have wanted a baby and either couldn't have one or the pregnancy didn't go through as planned. Some people would counter-argument that certain women who get pregnant or have been raped don't think they are fit to be a parent. This is where the women who struggle to have kids can get involved. There are many different options babies can go to if their mother cant take care of them. Abortion is taking a life away and in my eyes is seen as a form of murder.

Gallup: Trump job approval drops to 37% - 3 views

The approval ratings, Trump's worst since taking office two months ago, come as FBI Director James Comey is expected to tell lawmakers that there is no evidence for the President's unverified claim that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower during the election.
  •
" Aside from the controversy over Trump's wiretapping claim, the latest poll numbers suggest growing dissatisfaction with his performance following the chaotic rollout of Republicans' plan to replace the Affordable Care Act and reaction to his travel ban that has faced stiff legal opposition." Trumps approval ratings are the worst that they've been the entire time he has been in office.
  •
I think a lot of people haven't approved of Trump ever since the beginning and he hasn't really had enough time to prove his worth so people are only continuing to disapprove of his actions.

California and President Trump are going to war with each other - 16 views

  •
President Trump had harsh words for one of his most fervent opponents during the pre-Super Bowl interview with Fox News's Bill O'Reilly that aired Sunday. Not President Vladimir Putin, mind you, whose alleged unpleasant habit of murdering journalists met with a shrug from the president. No, Trump lashed out at the nation's largest state, California.
  • ...3 more comments...
  •
First he says that he is opposed to sanctuary cities, saying it breeds crime and goes on to say that "we have to well defend, we give tremendous amounts of money to California". But then when asked if that was his "weapon of choice" trump says, " I don't want to defend the state...If they're going to have sanctuary cities, we may have to do that." First he says this and then he says that, what IS his opinion here? Plus when he says that sanctuary cities breeds crime, but the FBI gives proof to show that it doesn't. Why can't he check his facts before he says something?
  •
So Trump wants to pull money from California's school, which is ridiculous it will make the US dumber than it already is, we have lost our rank in education. This war doesn't even make logical sense, taking money will never solve the problem. It will cause more.
  •
I think Trump sounds ignorant when he says that they breed more crime. Every city has crime and theres always going to be people that commit crimes no matter what
  •
Trump is stubborn, because of everything he wants to change on his terms states will start to rebel. He needs to learn to negotiate with others wants or the whole country will rebel and then it will be out of control.
  •
There shouldn't be a war at all, i don't really see the point of why he is going to take California's money. Maybe he should cut down some of our military money. Take money from something that is a lot more wide ranged than California.

Russia claims it can wipe out US Navy with single 'electronic bomb' - 15 views

  •
Russia has claimed it can disable the entire US Navy in one fell swoop using powerful electronic signal jamming. A news report from the country - where the media is essentially controlled by the state - said the technology could render planes, ships and missiles useless.
  • ...7 more comments...
  •
Russia is threatening the US with statements saying that they could destroy our navy and air force by jamming all of the signals. In my opinion Trump should take action to make sure that they don't do that because then America would be vulnerable. I'm not saying that we should attack but we should focus on defense right now.
  •
If so, why don't the Russians do it? And now that Russia apparently claimed what they can do, can America compete with this and maybe use the same technology on the Russians?
  •
How credible is this information? If it is credible what is the Government doing about the threat?
  •
Because Russia says they are capable of doing this. There is a possiblity of them expressing it over dramatically. If you look at the technology comparison, the United states is much farther ahead. You don't think we can do the same back at them? We probably can. Just get an EMP.
  •
You cant jam an M16 with an electric bomb.
  •
I was also reading from a few different sources that an ex-Russian official has suggested that Russia military has the ability to use underwater nukes to detonate a "tsunami bomb" off our coasts. This claim has been officially denied by the Putin govt, but interesting to consider weapons like this. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/01/russia-can-launch-tsunami-against-us-nuclear-bombs-buried-ocean/
  •
I'm not quite sure why we're so worried about alleged claims created by Russia. Not only that but the U.S. military as well as U.S. technology like Daniel said is much more advanced. If we really want to know if these allegations are true find out. Otherwise you stay living in fear over whether something is true or not. Take their threat and do something about it if it's a threat that's that high in severity.
  •
I wonder if Donald Trump has done anything about this, or is planning to. Russia threatening us with this is very serious and I have a feeling Trump is not doing much. Could Russia really disable all planes and missiles through an electronic signal?
  •
Is the government going to do anything about this issue? Or should the people have to worry about a near future war ahead?
