That is absolutely ridiculous that the school would ban that girl for shaving her head. Since when is baldness a violation of dress code? She was supporting her friend going through cancer and I think that should be rewarded instead of punished.
  •
This is sad, she was just trying to support her friend.
  •
She shouldn't have been punished for this. Why is shaving your head against the dress code? It doesn't make sense.
  •
I've gone to Grand Junction a lot as a kid and know people there, so it surprises me to find out that they are discriminating a cancer patient at a school.

Quarantined family of Ebola victim in US left to mourn in isolation - 1 views

  •
It had been planned as a vigil, but the service quickly turned into a memorial once the news broke that Ebola had killed Eric Duncan, the virus's first victim in the US.
  •
I think it's awful and so unfortunate that at a time like this the family can't be at Eric's funeral. I can't begin to imagine how it would be to have to handle that and be quarantined in a house away from other family members even until the 21 day incubation period is over.

Sydney siege: Hostages held in Lindt cafe - 6 views

  •
I think they should get him out peacefully if possible and interrogate him to find out why he did it and who he did it for. If they can not get him out peacefully they should use force to get him and protect the hostages that he has fortunately not hurt so far.

Why would something like this would happen?
  •
I think that people need to act like human beings and not animals when something great in sports happens.
  •
People need to be respectful and not act out when something like this happens in sports

The photos North Korea didn't want you to see | News.com.au - 14 views

  •
"Using digital memory cards he smuggled out images of the communist nation he was forbidden to take. Mr Lafforgue wanted to show that North Koreans are humans, not robots, who also suffer."
  •
I think North Korea doesn't want these pictures to be published on the web because they do not want to show the ugly side of their country. The poor, working children especially.
  •
This was shocking. They must have good security in North Korea because I didn't know this side of North Korea. I'm on the photographers side in this position. North Korea has so tight of security on exposure of their country that they almost seem ashamed of their homeland.

Gun range's ban on Muslims draws fire - 6 views

  •
In the five months since Jan Morgan banned Muslims from her gun range in Hot Springs, Ark., business has boomed and predictions of a lawsuit brought by federal civil rights enforcers have so far proved inaccurate.
  • ...2 more comments...
  •
I understand where they think that they don't want like terrorists to shoot guns, or shoot guns in there range. But not all muslims are terrorists. I agree they should stop terrorists from having access to guns, but it takes away the rights of everyone to not allow anyone to shoot.
  •
They shouldn't be able to ban people from their range based on their religion. Not all Muslim's are terrorists.
  •
That's really wrong that they ban people based on their religion. There is millions of Muslims around the world and ban their freedom because of something someone else did is wrong!!
  •
I understand that she wants to keep potential terrorists out of her gun range. But as long as they are legal American citizens, they have a right to be able to join a private gun club. She is jumping to conclusions by assuming that every Muslim is a terrorist, by kicking out people of different religions such as Hinduism, and by someone being "brown" in color.

Understanding CRE, the 'nightmare' superbug that killed 2 in Los Angeles - CNN.com - 5 views

shared by davyana on 19 Feb 15 - No Cached
  •
That's what CDC epidemiologists call carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae or CRE, which kill up to half the patients who contract them. The family of superbugs made headlines two years ago when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned they were spreading.
  •
I think that we should be careful because this sounds like a serious topic.
  •
This is why there has been rules and regulations for years about washing hands and sanitation. I agree with the last paragraph of the article about doctors not jumping to prescribe antibiotics, as bacteria over the years have become resistant to it because of all the antibiotics. It's sad that some antibiotics that can kill this super bug can cause other health issues to us. Medical providers have to very careful not to spread such bacteria around and be careful about the antibiotics and medicines they provide to patients.

Congress Again Buys Abrams Tanks the Army Doesn't Want | Military.com - 5 views

  •
"The new defense spending bill includes $120 million for tanks that the Army has repeatedly said it doesn't want."
  •
I think that congress should quit spending money on things we don't need. The military has repeatedly told them not to make more, but congress keeps having more made by spending money to keep the factories running.

Shocked Jordanians rally behind king, against ISIS after video of pilot's killing - 9 views

  •
The shocking images of a Jordanian Air Force pilot being burned alive in an outdoor cage by ISIS terrorists have galvanized the country, once seen as possible fertile recruitment ground for the group, behind King Abdullah II's calls for a stepped-up military campaign.
  •
I think that Jordan is doing the right thing because what ISIS did was very inhumane and they deserve to be fought back. They can't just go around burning people alive just to give a message.
  •
ISIS burning a pilot and video taping it is very inhumane and they deserve to be punished for their actions. Jordan is doing the right and uniting as a country to avenge one of their own. Jordanians standing behind their King and their military is good for their country and good for taking down ISIS.

What if the Government Fears Freedom? - 7 views

  •
What if the current massive spying on Americans began with an innocent secret executive order signed by President Reagan in 1986? What if Reagan contemplated that he was only authorizing American spies to spy on foreign spies unlawfully present in the U.S.? What if Reagan knew and respected the history of the Fourth Amendment?
  •
Interesting opinion. This article makes me reflect on that balance between our government keeping us safe and invading our privacy. Strange in a way to think that Americans have been having this battle with our own government since the Revolutionary War!

"I think they realize that there's going to be tremendous costs and consequences and implications if they were to decide to go for a 'breakout,'" Brennan said on "Fox News Sunday," referring to Iran amassing enough of the materials necessary to build a nuclear bomb rather than use those materials for civil energy.

Student loan forgiven if you work in public service - 1 views

  •
Are you planning on working for a nonprofit or the government? If so, that's a good first step. The program you're hearing about is designed to help ease the burden of skyrocketing tuition costs while encouraging graduates to enter low-paying but socially important "Main Street" jobs -- like teachers, firefighters, nurses, librarians, court clerks, public defenders and EMTs.
  •
I like this idea. I think it will help many people that have a lot of debt. Only down side is that you have to pay for the first 10 years of your debt. I feel as you could almost pay off your student loans in ten years.

Dozens of casualties as military training center in Libya's Zliten attacked: witnesses - 2 views

  •
A military training center in the Libyan town of Zliten was hit by a truck bomb on Thursday, causing dozens of casualties, witnesses said. They said the casualties included civilians, some of whom were taken to hospital in the nearby city of Misrata.
  •
It's so tragic, it's crazy to think people would want to do this to others, especially to those who are trying to help protect your life. I couldn't imagine being a witness to this.

How Donald Trump's deportation plan failed 62 years ago - CNNPolitics.com - 10 views

  •
The rare exception: his immigration plan. As president, Trump says he would eject some 11 million undocumented workers from the country. He cites a specific model for his proposal: "Operation Wetback," an aggressive and unprecedented sweep by U.S.
  • ...1 more comment...
  •
The ethical issues and problems that a mass roundup of illegal immigrants would create chaos in America. I agree with Trump and the other candidates that it is a problem, but the solution is not to launch a nation wide man hunt and deport people to random places in Mexico.
  •
They tried this a long time ago and it was considered a shameful chapter in american history because they were mean to people when they did it didn't even try to make it a little easy on them.
  •
I think that a big change is coming in the United States. If Trump becomes president, there will no longer be peace in the place we call home. There will be so many people refusing to do what he says he wants to do. I personally feel that he doesn't have the right to say whether or not they are here. If it didn't work before, it won't work now. And him just trying it will cause conflict everywhere.

Finland wants to give every adult a basic income of 800 euros a month - 1 views

  •
The Finnish government, elected earlier this year, is planning to introduce a tax-free monthly payment of 800 euros ($865) to all adult Finns, regardless of income, wealth or employment status. The payment would replace most other state benefits. The government thinks that the move will actually save money.
