I guess the question that comes up with this part of the NDAA is whether or not our government can limit the right of due process of citizens in the name of National Security. I personally don't believe that it is okay to "indefinitely" detain a citizen just for being suspected of being affiliated with terrorists.
From what I have heard, the security at the embassy that the ambassador was killed in may or may not have been lacking, which would have been a major oversight.
TAMPA, Fla. -- Police in Florida say an 18-month-old Tampa girl was injured when her mother rammed their car in into a house while trying to run over a man. Authorities say 29-year-old Tamika Lashaunda Willis did not buckle the child into a car seat when she tried to run over the man, eventually ramming the car into his house.
Not only did she miss the man she was trying to hit, she injured her own child in the meantime... some people just should not have a driver's license..
That's ridiculous that the mother would even take their child to that kind of situation. The fact that she did was bad enough, but she didn't even secure her child, so that's a scary thought to think about. Should she be allowed to have children? I think she isn't responsible enough and seems to be unstable.
I think this will be a good thing for the U.S. I am pretty sure that there are enough people who want to fight for our country's freedom so why do we need to keep paying more and more for the military? I don't think they are going to take all of the money the military has.
By Barbara Starr Top U.S. and Russian military officials on Tuesday discussed the potential for the United States to share high-tech equipment to counter any use of improvised explosives by terrorists during the Sochi Olympics, a U.S. official told CNN. Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey and his Russian counterpart, Gen.
The administration wants to wait to release its war budget, but it might not get its way if some members of Congress have anything to say about it. Pentagon officials have said that they are holding off on releasing the overseas contingency operations budget-which oversees war funds-until after a bilateral security agreement with Afghanistan is signed. If completed, it would determine U.S. military involvement in the country after 2014.
By Tom Cohen and Holly Yan A breakthrough deal on Iran's nuclear program could be on the horizon - even though Western allies are splintered on the terms. World leaders will meet Wednesday in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss a proposed deal that would loosen economic sanctions against Tehran in exchange for a suspension of part of its nuclear program.
OK I want YOUR opinions on this issue... Was it appropriate for the capital city police shoot her once her car had crashed? She had no weapon, but were they acting to protect public safety? What is your view?
In my opinion, they shouldn't of shot her. I'm almost sure that the reason they had chosen to take this action is because they feared that she was trying to attack the white house. It's likely that if the thought that she might be targeting the government wasn't an assumption that had been made, she wouldn't of been shot. That represents inequality in our society, because had it been anyone else that seemed like a target, this person wouldn't of lost her life. Her car was already crashed, and no weapons were in her possession. Knowing that, how could she of been a threat to the public in any way?
She tried to run her car into the white house. She knew what she was doing. She knew she would end up in jail or in trouble at least. If your going to do something stupid, and try to endanger several people's lives over something you can't control, then whatever happens, happens.
I think she was using her vehicle as a weapon but I don't think that means that they needed to shoot her. I think she was crazy for having her kid in the car with her and they should have arrested her to then be able to question her for her actions now they'll never know.
They shouldn't have shot her. They probably did it to avoid more paper work and hassle. Always looking for a reason to kill people who defy the government. Plus she wasn't the only one in the car. Talk about devastating.
I think they shouldn't have shot her.Especially since her one year old daughter was in the vehicle and probably witnessed the horror of her mom being shot and killed in front of her.
No it wasn't right to do that. Yes they were trying they could of shot somewhere else on her that wouldn't of killed her but just got her to stop what she was doing.
They should have shot her in the arm or leg just to stop her but to kill her in front of her kid is wrong. But she was also wrong for bringing her child with and putting her in a dangerous situation.

"The U.S. Congress should be working to improve the economic security of middle class families across the country. We should start right here in the U.S. Senate," the senators wrote to Senate Rules Chairman Roy Blunt, a Republican, whose committee oversees Senate services, such as the contract for the company that employs Senate cafeteria workers.
When Congress passed the PATRIOT Act in 2001, it did not intend to authorize the indiscriminate collection of personal information about every American. But that is what Congress will be doing if it renews the law next month without changes aimed at protecting our privacy from an increasingly intrusive national security state.

Re: Spencer. I'm not sure having teachers carrying guns would make students FEEL safer, nor am I convinced that having teachers with guns would actually reduce school violence. I do believe that having a on site police officer or dedicated security person is a good idea.
The U.S. government started keeping secret records of Americans' international telephone calls nearly a decade before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, harvesting billions of calls in a program that provided a blueprint for the far broader National Security Agency surveillance that followed...
