JungleJar | ProFolio - Free and Professional Portfolio - 0 views

  •
ProFolio is a professional ready to go portfolio that is perfectly suitable for both a personal portfolio or a more professionally oriented portfolio. Essentially anyone that wants an easy yet customizable way to display their graphical presentations such as photographs, digital art, web designs, etc would most likely be content with this software. Currently ProFolio is free, but the developers behind the software have been saying for as long as I've been aware of ProFolio that at some point in the somewhat near future they will be charging for further downloads. So, I wouldn't drag my feet too long before I gave this one a try.

Yumiko Kayukawa - 0 views

  •
Yumiko Kayukawa was born in the small town of Naie in Hokkaido, Japan. The panoramic beauty of her surroundings and feelings of communication with the native animals inspired her to paint the things around her. As a teenager she also fell in love "with the energy and giddiness" of American pop-culture through her exposure to rock n' roll, film, and fashion. By the age of 16, she had debuted into the art world with a comic-book (Manga) feature. After graduating from Art school, she continued to paint, but struggled with truly expressing herself in her art. Fortunately, this frustration took a dramatic turn during a visit to Seattle where Yumi painted a picture at the request of an American friend. In comic-book style, two girls sit entwined atop a mushroom, Japanese symbols and American pop art styles melding together in lively color and bold lines. Yumi now realized her art persona - sagacious Japanese tradition in synergy with the jubilant irreverence of American pop culture. What does she see for her future as an artist? "I'd rather my paintings hang next to rock star pin-ups than on museum walls. Ultimately I want to connect with people all over the world on that level", she says with a smile. When we look at her work, it's obviously just a matter of time.

Ritchard Rodriguez Oil Paintings - 0 views

  •
I see my paintings as living creatures with shapes, problems and solutions that I address within a candid dialogue, stemming from pure spontaneity, entering a space of concentration, rhythm, physical gesturing, and an understanding of where a work wants to go.

The Curated Object - 1 views

Sometimes whispering and other times shouting, objects have their own time and cadence. The Curated Object is interested in the exhibition of objects and those who find our engagement with them compelling. Objects act out all the time and revolt against us. Listening carefully is my quest.

The Unusually Designed Modern Teapot - 3 views

  •
Uniquely designed by Tse & Tse Associees, the Mizra Stand Up Teapot will surely catch every eye's attention. Made of porcelain with a wooden handle, the Mizra Teapot is clean and elegant enough to be on any table for a relaxing tea drinking session. I see a cute little banana boat on one's table in here when used. On the other hand, Mizra can also be one of your stylish decors when not in use by simply letting it stand on its end when not in use. You can also set it aside in your cupboard with no problem at all, as it surely will save a lot of your space.-via

It did catch my attention, but not in a good way. I think it's because my engineering background tells me there is something wrong with the handle...

That's a great collection. Bantjes' is genius like all of her work. Ian - I like the combination of light and dark in yours. It has a very contemporary feel, but I also see some influences like Art Nouveau at work in it. Do you like Art Nouveau?
  •
To cewsom: I do like Art Nouveau, especially the organic patterns. Glad that like this design (I put lots of thoughts in this, obviously), just like most of my customers. :P The combination of light and dark, including the colors, helps to create a certain mood. I hope it arouses some excitement without being excessive and over dispersive. Actually this design is based on my latest digital work, in which I tried to adopt and experiment some elements (colors, curves, etc.) I never used before.

Yeah, we all have seen stuff like this, but the elephant, the clown, the tiger and ballons make such a wonderful illustration that we can't help but take a peek in the gallery of this young lad from UK. Thanks God he doesn't let me down, but makes my next trip to his wonderland necessary and definite.

The statement "Collecting Art: Everyone's at it, why aren't you?" on the cover caught my attention first then it's the news that artreview offers free, on-line magazine for your pleasure, at least for the first 6 months (I don't even know what that means!).
