Killer JeansTo be honest, Taxi Design Network is quite a place to see something you would never dream of seeing. Take the work you see, Killer Jeans, of this Indian illustrator/designer/artist Sameer Kulavoor for example, strength, composition, skill, and execution are all there in a single piece. In his résumé, he said "without any particular background in graphic design, his liking for art led him to exploring different mediums," and from my point of view, the variety of his works is a solid proof that you would bookmark his website and be a faithful admirer. At 22yrs of age, he has worked internationally in areas like illustration and design for editorial and advertising; motion graphics and animation for web, television and cinema. He has created two Music videos, a few shorts and hundreds of illustrative designs for a vast and varied portfolio of clients, from MNCs to Music Bands. about illoz

illoz is a portfolio site for Illustrators that doubles as a very useful workspace for art directors. It's an experiment, of sorts. The idea is to establish a new and better way for art directors to find and interact with Illustrators. The program was created by two guys with an idea, the same two odd-balls that brought Drawger to life. More about illoz and why it's here.

illoz is an invitation only portfolio site for Illustrators. It's not for everyone and not everyone who wants a portfolio site here will be able to get one. This looks like a good book. I think it's important to have information like this on hand when one is dealing with bureaucratic bodies intent on narrowing or cutting art programs. Art making and education is tied in a very important way to our cognitive growth and development as human beings.

"Computers aren't everything" I think that's an incredibly important statement. Drawing with a nice pen or pencil on good paper can get you thinking in a very different way than arranging pixels on a screen. When I'm stuck, or even when I'm not stuck for ideas I find the nearest library and look for the oldest, largest most decrepit books and pull them off the shelf to look at them. There are many gems languishing on forgotten shelves. The other day I found a very large book from the 1920s chock full of beautifully colored prints of Masonic symbols and imagery. The pieces that this site is perhaps most notable for are the mirrors, sometimes made of things that are not naturally reflective. For example: the wooden mirror, which, taking the image from a videoacamera, activates selected actuators, causing some of the wooden panels on a display to tilt downward. Those panels, appearing darker because they are now in shadow, create the darkened region of a mechanically created, pixelated moving image of the person standing before the "mirror". In the artist's own words, "Rozin creates installations and sculptures that have the unique ability to change and respond to the presence and point of view of the viewer". Designers Diogo Aguiar and Teresa Otto of Portugal have designed and built a temporary bar made of 420 IKEA storage boxes for a competition organised by the architecture faculty at the Universidade do Porto in Portugal.

CoBrA was formed thanks to the joining of forces of three experimental groups under the leadership of Christian Dotrement and Asger Jorn in 1948. The group took its name from the first letters of three prominent European cities - Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam - and a manifest was drawn up and afterwards signed in Paris by the group's founding participants, Jorn, Dotrement, Noiret, Appel, Constant and Corneille, at a little café.

The Aldrich is one of the few non-collecting contemporary art museums in the United States.
