Telemedicine has changed the healthcare sectors in terms of providing medical devices and services with the help of technological innovations in telecommunication and wireless connectivity. It is an advance communication platform which mainly allows healthcare providers to offer clinical healthcare services to patients, even at distant place.

In a randomized controlled trial (RCT), children enrolled in the Head Start program in Baltimore received services from a mobile pediatric asthma clinic and from asthma educators.

Participating providers take ownership over all activities, including data collection and analysis through a registry, regular performance reports, and periodic meetings to review data and identify and share best practices. This incentive and support structure has generated very high levels of provider participation in the collaborations, which, based on results from the four longest-running initiatives, have significantly improved quality, reduced costs, and generated a positive return on investment.
