» Why Is My IP Address From Another State? - IT Professionals - Lockergnome - 0 views

  •
Recently I had someone ask me a question I wanted to share with you. They asked me why in the heck their IP address appeared to be coming from the other side of the country? Honestly, I can understand why this would freak someone out! Imagine not understanding what is going on as you do an IPChicken.com check only to see the IP looking odd. Then you run a speed test and learn you're suddenly based in another region of the country. I mean come on, that is just going to feel weird to the uninformed.

This is What a Tweet Looks Like - 0 views

  •
Think a tweet is just 140 characters of text? Think again. To developers building tools on top of the Twitter platform, they know tweets contain far more information than just whatever brief, passing thought you felt the urge to share with your friends via the microblogging network. A tweet is filled with metadata - information about when it was sent, by who, using what Twitter application and so on.

Dropbox Review | Macworld - 0 views

  •
One of the most popular bits of code around the Macworld offices is Dropbox . We've made videos about it, we've written about how to get more out of it, we've reviewed programs that take advantage of it, and we've even given it an Eddy award. But we've never reviewed Dropbox itself. So with Dropbox 1.0 for Mac officially released, it's about time we did. And given that it's free (more on that below), it's about as good a candidate for Mac Gems as there is.

Basics of Computer Science, Animated * Department of Computer Science, The University of Tennessee * 2006 - 0 views

  •
One of the difficulties students have in introductory computer science courses is understanding the dynamic complexities of several computer science basics. How to build an iPhone app | News | TechRadar UK - 2 views

  •
In this article I want to help kick start your own development on the App Store, and I hope it's encouraging for you that I myself went from having zero apps to having 20 approved and on sale in the space of just over a year and a half. I haven't made enough money from them to retire, but they do provide a regular income - and it's an income that's only going to grow as Apple sells more hardware.

Computer Viruses and the Internet « Welcome to a Bloggin' Education - 0 views

  •
I have spent a lot of time throughout the years researching and collecting facts and stimulus materials on the topic of Computer Viruses. Recently when I was watching my regular TED talk on my phone I watched this talk by Mikko Hypponen. I found it fascinating for the way in which he not only explores and shows some of the history of viruses but also talks of the social and ethical implications of the contemporary viruses being releases. He explores the use of viruses from a cyber-crime and organised-crime perspective.

File syncing is a godsend when you work on multiple computers or devices and want to make sure you have the most up-to-date files wherever you log in. While online services like Dropbox may be the most convenient options, there are plenty of reasons you may want to "roll your own cloud" and sync your files to your own web server or just on your local network.

How to secure files from other users on external disks? - 0 views

  •
External hard-disk or USB drive attached to a system running on OSX is vulnerable, as it could be accessed through other user-profiles easily. Apart from that, if the network file sharing feature is enabled, the external storage device could be accessed by anyone having the authority to get logged into the network. Thus, no matter you encrypted the drive or particular files or not, any unauthorized user can access your data, steal records and make changes into that. What to do? Techvedic, being a leader in tech support, offers you practical and effective solution.

With the help of LiveAndroid you don't have to wait to try it out. LiveAndroid has been around for a while now. Originally launched in May, LiveCD allows you to run the Android OS on x86 platforms without actually installing the software. Up until now this was only useful to those with netbooks that actually have an optical drive. However, the folks at LiveAndroid last week announced a LiveUSB version, especially handy for those of you with netbooks or notebooks that don't have a disc drive.
