If you look way up at the top right hand corner on the homepage of abookandahug.com, you'll see Register An Account and Log In. These are great tools for getting kids to make and keep lists, to make lists with friends which promotes what I call social reading, or for a class or an entire school to create a shared list. I've had mothers come and tell me that their daughters and their BFF's have made a list and are sharing it with each other. Brothers and families are doing the same thing. People do some wonderfully creative things when handed a tool with possibilities.

Virtual field trips challenge and expose students to new types of technology. It is a great way to spark their interest and motivate their learning in a specific content area. Virtual field trips can offer students more opportunities because you can take them to places they wouldn't normally be able to go to otherwise - like inside a volcano or ocean floor! There are numerous sites that are now offering Tutorials and how-to guides for creating ebooks in iBook Author. As teachers are now comfortable with the idea of creating their own e-textbooks more and more people are looking for resources to learn how to build touch enabled books that take full advantage of the iPad capabilities. Inserting video and high resolution photographs is one thing but how about inserting 3D manipulatives and models that are touch sensitive. Here is a list of some of the resources online. A whole lot like speed dating. Students spend a little time with each book and then rate them accordingly with "I want to read more", "Interesting", "Not for me", or "I've already read". Students can also make a note of how interested they are in reading the book (maybe a 1-10 scale)? This process introduces students to a variety of books, genres and authors. Students may come across titles and authors they wouldn't otherwise find.
