Text messaging at night can lead to sleeping disorders in kids - 1 views

    A study was performed that evaluated the effects of sending text messages and using the Internet right before bedtime on children. The researchers at the Sleep Disorders Center at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J found that the use of these technologies right before bed can have negative effects on kids' sleeping patterns. These then impact their daytime functioning and psychological health. This lack of sleep results in poor cognitive functioning and disorders such as ADHD. The amount of texting and online use before bed should be limited and monitored by parents.

At a young age kids are more prone to text and be more technologically savvy. However, their literacy is effected by the amount of texting they do. Children that text less write more. Therefore, children that text more, write less and are less involved in their writing abilities. I will use this information in describing the effects of texting at young ages.

The clients who are at higher risk of mental health symptoms should be assessed by professionals.

Using the child's diagnosis, age, and current educational placement, a study was done to observe the effects of these factors on parent's perceptions of inclusion for their child with disabilities. Parents in the study filled out surveys asking questions on how they felt about their childs current educational situation and views on inclusive programs. The studies showed clear results. Parents of patients with Down syndrome showed a significant difference in support of inclusive programs over parents of children with autism. Age also played a role.

They found that after having these out that college students tended to go to the more healthy options when they actually realized what they were. They concluded that not only did this short term effect work but that the college students did not know what their healthy options were and therefore were happy to be notified.

This article discusses the results found in a study of people about how they feel about their self images. It shows that there is a difference between how the subjects reacted and they are measured with explicit reactions and implicit reactions. Both of these styles of reactions show similar results as previous studies showing that the level of beauty stressed in media caused children, especially girls to have a lower self esteem and makes them have more emphasis of their own personal appearance.
