But I've found that we all bring creativity to our jobs in some form or another. At Copyright Alliance, we're a small team that serves more than 40 institutional members and thousands of artists around the country. For each of us, the ability to find and share files while on the go is a huge priority, especially because we tend to fill in for each other on different projects at a moment's notice. Balancing tasks like writing opinion pieces for news publications, giving talks at conferences, and meeting with members-all in the same day-is the norm. In the past, technology issues sometimes sapped my creative energy, making it difficult to stay focused on the task in front of me. Instead, I would have to scramble to find a document or a presentation that I needed. We had a file server at the office and I would routinely download all the documents I thought I would need before dashing off to the next engagement. This not only took extra time out of my day, it also wasn't a foolproof system. There were times when I just couldn't access the information I needed while out in the field. Date functions in Excel make it is possible to perform date calculations, like addition or subtraction, resulting in automated or semi-automated worksheets. The NOW function, which calculates values based on the current date and time, is a great example of this. Taking this functionality a step further, when you mix date functions with conditional formatting, you can create spreadsheets that display date alerts automatically when a deadline is near or differentiates between types of days, like weekends and weekdays. From annoying messages like "Sorry we ran into a problem" and "Something went wrong" to slow downloads, hanging at certain percentages during the install, it's been typical Microsoft problems all along the way. If you've been trying to install Office 2013 on Windows 8 or Windows 7 and you're running into issues, I'm going to try and give you as many possible solutions as I could find. If you run into a different issue not mentioned here, feel free to post a comment and let us know. It's also worth noting that you can't install Office 2013 on Windows Vista or Windows XP, it's just not possible. You'll get an error message like: This is not a valid Win32 application or We are sorry, you couldn't install your Office product because you don't have a modern Windows operating system. You need Microsoft windows 7 (or newer) to install this product or The procedure entry point K32GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNERL32.dll Now let's talk about some of the problems that can occur when installing Office 2013 on Windows 7 and Windows 8. You might also get this error if the computer restarted for some reason before the installation was finished. If you've gotten the "something went wrong" error during an Office 365/Office 2013 (or 2016) installation, we want to help! First, go to this Microsoft troubleshooting article and run the "Fix it" tool. This automated tool will take you through a process of uninstalling Office so you can re-install a clean version. Tip: we've seen the advice to NOT use Internet Explorer to run the tool, but rather another browser like Chrome or Firefox, so you can keep it running even when other Windows applications need to close.
