The all new Office 2016 suite is free for customers on mobile and tablets (conditions apply) and pretty cheap at $145 for "Office Home & Student 2016" and the RRP version of the same is priced at $165, along with subscription version of the suite (Office 365 Personal) at about $70 per year. Built for collaboration Office suite has changed how businesses operate and more focus is laid on connectivity and collaboration of projects. So, the latest offering from Microsoft, Office 2016 is emphasized on collaborations among spread out team members who may never work in the same office environment, but easily enhance productivity by accomplishing a major task that took a week to get it done. Whenever you start a new project in PowerPoint, you'll need to create a new presentation, which can either be blank or from a template. You'll also need to know how to open an existing presentation. TO CREATE A NEW PRESENTATION: When beginning a new project in PowerPoint, you'll often want to start with a new blank presentation. Select the File tab to go to Backstage view. Clicking the File tab - www.office.com/setup Select New on the left side of the window, then click Blank Presentation. Creating a new presentation - www.office.com/setup A new presentation will appear. TO CREATE A NEW PRESENTATION FROM A TEMPLATE: A template is a predesigned presentation you can use to create a new slide show quickly. Templates often include custom formatting and designs, so they can save you a lot of time and effort when starting a new project. Click the File tab to access Backstage view, then select New. You can click a suggested search to find templates or use the search bar to find something more specific. In our example, we'll search for the keyword chalkboard. Selecting a template - www.office.com/setup A preview of the template will appear, along with additional information on how the template can be used. Click Create to use the selected template. There are several ways to start working with a workbook in Excel. You can choose to create a new workbook-either with a blank workbook or a predesigned template-or open an existing workbook. ABOUT ONEDRIVE Whenever you're opening or saving a workbook, you'll have the option of using your OneDrive, which is the online file storage service included with your Microsoft account. If you are using Office 2007, support is due to end in 2 short years. Microsoft Office 2016, the latest Windows-based version of the major technology company's application suite, is scheduled for a release sometime in spring, 2015. However, we already know quite a bit about the product, thanks to a preview and testing program that Microsoft has been running. Here are 6 details to look forward to, ahead of the product's mainstream release: 1. Better Security Microsoft Office 2016 will emphasize the value of better security parameters. In addition to a file-level encryption functionality, new data loss protection tools inside of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint will warn users when they attempt to save confidential files to unsafe locations. Microsoft Outlook will also be more secure, thanks to a multi-factor authentication feature. Similarly, the application suite will have stronger information rights management tools that let you limit what people can do with your documents or emails after you've shared access with them. For example, you can allow access to a certain document to expire after a set period of time, and prevent it from being forwarded. These tools will also stop people from copying and pasting information out of Microsoft Office 2016 applications. 2. Business Intelligence Features Microsoft Excel lives up to its name in Microsoft Office 2016. The latest version of this application features a built-in business intelligence tool called Power Query. This tool can dramatically change the way that you approach your data. Using it, you can quickly combine your own numbers with figures from public databases like Data.gov and Microsoft Azure Marketplace. The slide view commands are located in the bottom-right of the PowerPoint window. There are four main slide views. The different slide view commands - www.office.com/setup Normal view: This is the default view, where you create and edit slides. You can also move slides in the Slide Navigation pane on the left. Normal View - www.office.com/setup Slide sorter view: In this view, you'll see a thumbnail version of each slide. You can drag and drop slides to reorder them quickly. Slide Sorter - www.office.com/setup Reading view: This view fills the PowerPoint window with a preview of your presentation. It includes easily accessible navigation buttons at the bottom-right. Reading View - www.office.com/setup Slide show view: This is the view you'll use to present to an audience. This command will begin the presentation from the current slide. You can also press F5 on your keyboard to start from the beginning. A menu will appear in the bottom-left corner when you move the mouse. Because of this, it is important that presentations are engaging, modern and easy to create, in order to have the impact that is intended. This tutorial in our Sway series will show you how Sway can be used to make great presentations, and how you can make the most of the easy to use features to make your presentation as interactive and informative. Recently we're been working our way through a number of Sway video tutorials, and this next offering demonstrates the ways you can use Sway to create and liven up your presentations: In education planning is key, so most educators and students will draw up a plan of their presentation before they start creating it and, now you have Sway, it has never been easier to transform your plan into fun, interactive content in just a few clicks. If you write up an outline in Word for example, just drop it into Sway and it will automatically create headings and sections based on your document. You can then update and change the formatting of the text cards by using the emphasis and accent features, which draw attention to what matters to you in your presentation. To support the messaging in your text, you can then add some helpful or exciting images to the storyline, categorising them easily with the grouping tool and using focus points to make sure you don't lose what is important. If, like many educators, you like to have visual signposts in your presentation, then you can use the images and text as headings to section your work. This will make it easier for the student navigating the presentation, and allow you to keep the flow when you are presenting. Here's a summary of the October updates: NEW USAGE REPORTS STARTING TO ROLL OUT TODAY In March, we launched the new reporting dashboard in the Office 365 admin center that makes it easier for you to efficiently monitor your service, identify issues, plan training and report back on the investment to your management. Today, we are happy to announce four new usage reports for active users, Email clients, Skype for Business clients and Office 365 Groups, that provide you with additional insights about how users in your organization are using and adopting Office 365. Here's a look at each report: Active Users report-Lets you see which of your users actively use one or more of the different Office 365 services. This report is especially helpful for admins to identify users for whom they might want to plan some additional training and communication. Often, after being assigned an Office 365 license, users need a helping hand to get started with the different services. They might not know how to activate the product or how the product can help them to be more productive. I want to share a fantastic little tool that I've only recently come across; Live.js, written by Martin Kool. This JavaScript file automatically checks for changes to your CSS and JavaScript files, and refreshes them. That means you can have your text editor in one half of the screen, and a web browser in the other. When you save changes in the editor, the updates are reflected immediately in your browser. It really helps to speed up your development time. A lot of text editors offer HTML previews and such, but they only work for plain .html pages.
