Learning with flash animations! - 1 views

  •
Hi again mates! Today I would like to share with you a website which I found on the website of the Ministry of Education. I consider that it's a very interesting web because primary students can learn in a fun and effective way. It contains two levels of difficulty and a wide variety of activities that can be performed. Each topic is presented through funny flash animations and games. The objective of these exercises is to practice vocabulary, pronunciation, visual acuity and memory in a funny way with varied and colorful characters. I hope that you really enjoy it. I think that it can be really useful. See you soon!

Some examples of communicative activities - 4 views

  •
Hi folks! Searching on the Internet I have found an interesting article that includes a set of communicative activities that we can develop in the classroom. As we have been studying, one of the big challenges that language teachers face is to promote the skills of speaking and oral interaction. In several of the case studies the teachers express the difficulties they have developing oral language. However, as a language teacher it's really important to know what counts as speaking in language learning and how to promote such skills. I think that these are the advantages of using this kind of activities in the classroom: More exposure to the target language More authentic opportunities to use the foreign language Fun and interesting for learners These activities provides opportunity to use authentic materials Nevertheless, I consider that there is a big problem that we have to take into account: Learners can be resistant, specially if they are accustomed to teacher-centred styles of teaching. I hope you find it useful!

Lesson Planning Resource Guide GROUP 2 - 1 views

  •
Hello Group!!! It's a very good web page and very useful for us. In this PDF we can find information about planning. It answers different questions, like for example, why is planning important, what aspects you have to include in a lesson plan, etc. On the other hand, the guide also explains us five aspects that must be included in a lesson plan: -Learning Objectives -Assessments -Activities -Materials and Resources -Wrap-up and Reflection Finally, the guide includes an appendix with three resources as: Lesson Plan Templates; Sample Lesson Plan and Sample Rubrics. It's very recommendable for young teachers because it explains very well the importance of planning

Differentiated Instruction - 1 views

  •
Hi everyone! I want to share with you this amazing video that can help us for a better understanding of a concept that we studied last week (differentiated instruction) and also it can help us to be aware that this strategy can be put into practice in the classroom. I would like to comment briefly some ideas that the video shows: The teacher takes into account the different learning styles of the students trying to work the maximum number of multiple intelligences in designing activities. Remember that catering for the different learning styles does not mean that we have to develop eight different versions of every activity we do in the classroom. But it means that at the end of that a lesson or a didactic unit we should have given opportunities for the different learning styles. Besides, I want to highlight the good atmosphere that the teacher fosters, always respecting the views and personal opinions of all students. I consider that if students feel comfortable in the group they will be more open to learning and may develop a more positive attitude towards the language they are studying. Finally, the teacher promotes both individual, pair and group work. Flexible grouping was defined by Redencich and Mackay (1995:11) as "grouping that is not static, where members of the reading group change frequently." Flexible grouping is another measure to be adopted in the classroom in order to attend the diversity. I hope that this material can be useful for our personal training. See you!

Storytelling resource - 5 views

  •
Hi classmates! I want to share with you a quite helpuf resource I've found on the net. As we all know and as we have been told since the beginning of our lessons, storytelling can be perfect tool for English lessons. On this web, we as teachers and our pupils can create our own stories in a dynamyc and funny way. First of all, you have to choose the theme the story is going to be about and the grade of your pupils. Afterwards, it appears a kind of spin with different levers, and so comes to the screen aleatory facts to make an story. Afterwards, we can choose the format for our story and we can select the option of making a draw. Once we have completed this step, it's time to write the story and make a picture if we want. Finally, you can download the story in your computer. I would like you to have a look at this fantastic resource which appart from working storytellings, promotes the use of the ICT's. I hope you enjoy it.

To have clear ideas about Planning - 2 views

  •
Good Morning mates! I have found this article of Cambridge where explains for to create effective language lessons. But I want to do reference in pages 35-42 because we can solve doubts we have about planning, is very simple. Here explains the advantages (is a road map for the teacher, provides security, determines sequencing and timing) Also, this article advises us about the essential aspects to take into account to develop an effective plan, as the way to approach goals, groupings, resources. It´s very easy to understand, and only in seven pages!

Cooperative Learning - 0 views

Hello class! This is a useful document if you want to know more about cooperative learning. It's from a Spanish educator and I think that solves a lot of doubt about this way of teachng. It's very related with the activity that we did with Natalia the Monday before, but I think we also can learn a lot about classroom management.

Designing pre-listening activities - 1 views

  •
Hello mates! The other day in the class of Desarrollo de Competencias de Comunicación en la Lengua Extranjera, Daniel told us that most of us have problems designing previous activities. Searching on the Internet I have found this interesting article that talks about pre-listening activities. It includes these aspects: * Why do pre-listening tasks? * Aims and types of pre-listening tasks * Selection criteria I believe that the part that talks about the different kinds of pre-listening tasks could be very useful for us when we create listening activities in class. Hope it serves!

Task-Based Learning - 0 views

Hello everybody! This is a video about task-based learning in Japan. I think it's very interesting because they have to complete a timetable with cards and these have pictures and short texts. I invite you to see it, because it's no long and it's shows that children can learn a lot by doing, and they can practise speaking skill in a low stress atmosphere in groups.

Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences - 4 views

  •
Hello again! This web talks about multiple intelligences, a theme that we have studied last year and these days too. As we have talked in our classes, we can use different materials or tools in order to attend all types of intelligences because all people are different in different ways. We have to take into account the needs and interests of our pupils, we must be flexible teachers. I want to highlight one of the statements of Gardner that, to my mind, defines exactly what we have to do in the practice. "It's very important that a teacher take individual differences among kids very seriously. The bottom line is a deep interest in children and how their minds are different from one another, and in helping them use their minds well." On the other hand, if you want to know the intelligence that prevails in you, you can check out this page http://quizfarm.com/quizzes/Inteligencias+Multiples/profesorrod/test-de-inteligencias-multiples/ Till the next!

the Finland Phenomenon - 3 views

  •
This is a video I think everybody should see. It is the story behind Finland´s educational system. The reason for tagging this video is the general idea you get for their success. It shows us the theory we are studying and the possible application. Although I don´t think it is possible to implement this system in Spain because of the big social and cultural differences it gives you a good idea about how it could be. In the video they talk about the differences, their curriculum, assessment, objectives, planning, tasks, their aims, some activities, the way students are invited to make their own decisions etc. Have a look, it's a real eye opener.

I´ve been fascinated with this documentary. It´s very interesting and amazing the educational process in Finland. Really I would like to learn much of this system, but the first thinking come to my mind is we are years behind. I understand is other culture and society, when they speak about the trust in everybody related with education, is something unthinkable here, by bad luck. This is a very recommendable video, you don´t believe you are going to lose an hour see it. I´ve finished very motivated, and I would want to know more closer this system, if could possible, visiting Finland.
