Simplicity Lost | sectionhiker.com - 0 views

There was a time, before the advent of cuben fabric, when going ultralight or lightweight backpacking meant taking less stuff on trips and on developing your backcountry skills to make up for the smaller safety margin. The simplicity of the activity was i

High tech fabrics come and go, and in the end, I care a lot more about the design of a product than what it's made out of.

What should I pack on a 3 day backpacking trip? | Section Hiker - 0 views

The answer is that you need everything you'd bring on a 1 day backpacking trip, except for a little more food, fuel, toilet paper, and what ever other extra consumables you need to stay out an additional 2 days.

Now for the interesting part, Don Kyatt's Melbourne head office said that plans were underway to manufacture a fully splined version of the 100 series clutch hub but it won't be available for at least a year. Other items available to beef up the gearbox are the hardened 1st and 5th gear thrust washers, the metal cylindrical spacer and the fully splined 5th gear. I was also informed that it may be prudent to replace the retaining plate securing the output shaft bearing - 333151-35020 ($52 inc).

Clutch Upgrade for 100 Series Landcruiser @ ExplorOz Forum - 0 views

  • Ive just fitted a Exedy Safari tuff clutch to our cruiser, awsome clutch and no shudder.Ive never heard any bad reports about one. Cost for clutch was around $750.Not sure on fitting costs as I fitted it myself.
  • What ever you go for just make sure it's a heavy duty one
  • 4terrain heavy duty clutch, the clutch itself cost $800, $75 for a flywheel machine, $55 for a new spigot and around $400 for labour, all up around $1300. Its plenty of cash but like you said once its done, it wont need to be done for many k's and you wont have it in the back of your mind.

Toyota Landcruiser HZJ105R Turbo Upgrade - 0 views

This is my scenario too. Landcruiser HZJ105R fitted with an aftermarket DTS turbo at 80,000 kms. Cooma Diesel Service just fiitted an intercooler and also just had a 3 in mandrel bend exhaust fitted. Cooma Diesel say they can't put it on the dyno because the clutch now slips.
  • Late model 1HZ powered cruisers ( wagons, utes and troopies) are fitted with an R151 gearbox as opposed to factory TD and petrols that are fitted with H150. H150 boxes are substantionaly stronger than R151. How long an R151 lasts behind an aftermarket turboed 1HZ depends on how it is driven I would think. Other than a mismatched or poorly installed/tuned turbo the R151 is the weakest link. While there are plenty of sucessful 1HZ turbo installs out there, there are also ugly ones. Be careful.
