Alrighty boys, this post is simply for demonstrating how easy diigo is to get some helpful articles online which are considered as related or useful to the readers of your blog or website, but it's quite handy if you wanna gather the stuff for your personal research as well. After you read the following and decide to try it out, get the diigo toolbar first, do those things step by step, trust me, it won't take you more that 10 minutes to get familiar with it at all.

While reading, I was testing out the Diigo Firefox add-on, which allows you to highlight and annotate webpages while you read, and I found I highlighted so much I can't reasonably put all of those sections in one post. (That add-on looks quite useful, by the way, and I've barely explored all of its features.)

I admit that I don’t use all these features; I still end up mostly using Diigo as my personal research tool. Having the ability to highlight and annotate text makes it much more useful as part of my personal learning environment than delicious. Personally, I think Diigo just looks a lot nicer than the barebones interface for delicious, especially in this version.

But Diigo! Diigo lets you annotate webpages, among other things. You create an account (all of these accounts are free), and then while you’re viesing a web page, you can highlight a bunch of text and, in effect, leave a permanent sticky note on that site, so whenever you view it, you can view your annotation. You can also make these annotations public to other diigo users. I have wanted a tool like this for at least five years. This changes everything.

So useful, Can bookmark, can annotate, can add stickies, can collaborate, can filter tags, can open all in tabs, can post to other sites, etc, etc. Icon changes to tell you in advance whether you have already bookmark a site or whether you have any highlighted text or images, yes images too. Which bookmarkers can do these? Awesome!

Improving on the Grassroots Directory In my earlier article about using Diigo as a research directory, I described their Groups feature and how useful it is for family research.  Well, it just got better.  Diigo has added a forum capability to their Groups platform.  In addition to collecting links - with the associated sticky notes and highlights - group members can post notes and ask questions in the forum. 

Personally I found Diigo www.diigo.com to be the most delightful and one step ahead. This fun tool allows you to highlight, bookmark and forward, any content from any site on planet Web. Even better, you can actually add a sticky note with your comments for either public or private viewing. This is in addition to all the regular features of a wiki – creating groups, shared content, collaborating on files and projects etc. You do need to download the tool bar which comes in all popular browser versions. I spent a most happy half hour, sticking notes on random web sites, but am sure it can be put to more productive use. Public comments are monitored by an editing team.

WebSlides - Transforms Bookmarks Once Again  Annotated New feature from Diigo (currently in private beta testing): create a slideshow of links with highlighting and sticky notes. You can record audio or add music to accompany it. I could see this having potential for basic tutorials or demos; you could do this instead of using screencast or recording software.

DIIIIIIIIGO!!! With the power of Diigo I can surf the web pages and not only bookmark pages I find interesting and relevant but I can also highlight and add sticky notes of comments that I and other members of the Diigo Community can easily access and discuss. This adds more steroids to the standard web bookmarking technique. Instead of having a huge list of bookmarks which i cannot remember what they are anymore I can ad tags, make sub-categories and share with other members with my same interest. Plus, it has a beautiful name… DIIIIIIIIIIIGOOOO! If only a computer can echo so all my imaginary friends online can hear it.

I have found that it is pushed my research into websites into a broader realm. I like how easy it is to save my favorites. I am able to place highlights on the site as well as sticky notes. I can form groups to share sites and discuss the common goal of the group. I would like to use it as a place to discuss a book that we will be reading. I think it will be a good place for researching the topic and discussing the topic.

I switched to Diigo because it gave me sophisticated bookmarking, annotation features, but ALSO access to group/conversation features that didn't require me to get a Ning or YahooGroup or that kind of group. I have enough of those. Furthermore, I'm able to post directly from my Diigo bookmarking/ highlighting/ annotating to two of my blogs

Diigo is better than all the others. I dont know how to explain it, but it just does more. You can highlight, comment, share, twitter, etc. It has a great tool bar, too. Mostly, I hate add on tool bars, but this one is actually easy to use.
