The Leopard T&T doc has a few changes in format from the earlier Mac OS X versions. I took out any sections on imaging, and tried to pull the setup in tighter. There are too many things to cover in imaging, and so much of it involves 3rd party tools, that I decided to separate that out. My focus in this doc was to cover the keys points of MCX, why Leopard is important, mobile accounts, and PHDs (portable home directories).

Here's a cleaned-up version of the script I use, with site-specific stuff removed for the most part. If you use this, you'll need to modify the paths to any local user home directories for any local users you have on your image. There are generic examples for a local admin user named "admin" and the root user (which if you never login as root, you shouldn't have to clean up!)

Using PMSET on Mac OS X, you can prevent your external hardrive from going to sleep (or spinning down). If you rock a notebook, and rely on an external enclosure, you probably know how annoying it is when your drive goes to sleep on you and it takes a good 30 seconds for it to spin back up again. More annoying is when Finder becomes unresponsive until this happens. If your drive is set to spindown every 15 minutes, then this ends up being downright maddening, and seriously cripples your workflow.
