    I enjoy how there are specific examples of racism and it tells us how some racism is taught. It isn't exactly in our community, yet it's in no body's community. I suggest you find another way that racism is taught because this seems a little silly.

    I think that this in completely based on few to no facts. More black homeowners going into foreclosure doesn't mean there is racism involved. There are factors this doesn't account for, like getting fired. However, this doesn't mean that it isn't happening.

    This may not be racial discrimination. Black neighborhoods are common in Memphis and those neighborhoods are most likely the poorer ones. The families may be in dept, thus their interest goes up.

    I don't think this article looks at every perspective. It doesn't look at the perspective of Wells Fargo. The foreclosures could have something to do with their jobs. Maybe their pay got cut, or they got fired. I'm not saying that it isn't happening, but I feel that it jumps to conclusions.

    This article is great because this shows the other side of the fight. Some African Americans have made some bad choices, but so have many whites as we have seen with the KKK, church bombing, and many others that exemplify the cruelty that both sides have done to push for there cause.

    I also agree with Robert. I think that all of these people put a lot of lives in the way for a problem that could have easily been solved. It also shows how the blacks had to struggle for their rights and freedom. This article also looks at not just the black side of this problem (because that is the side that we always look at) but how that African Americans also made some bad choices and how some of them effected the problem as well.

    A 63 year old black custodian. Was accused of stealing the white teachers phone, and was accused by the white teacher. Soon they found out that the white teacher actually had never lost the phone out of her possession.

    I think that this case definitely has some racial discrimination involved. However, I don't think if you looked at the security tapes you could pin the custodian. He has to go into every room to clean it.

    This is definitely racial discrimination. A white teacher claims to "lose" her phone so she blames a black worker. Also, the only people questioned were black. There is definitely racial discrimination at that school.

  • Does racism still exist forty years after the Civil Rights movement?  Do African Americans continue to face racial discrimination in today’s society?  Does racism undermine our national unity?  The answer to these questions is overwhelmingly yes.  No matter how far America progresses, there will always be people who thwart America’s evolution into a post-racist society.  Nonetheless, in order to gain understanding of our progression, or lack of, we must first analyze racism on a local level.  In order to alleviate racist attitudes, we must first put forth an effort in our own homes and communities.  Local citizens should work together in order to instill a sense of community shared across racial lines.  The social and economic status of African Americans may vary from city to city, but in Memphis, Tennessee, racial discrimination is undeniably still an issue.
