This year also marked the first Christmas where iPod touch app downloads passed iPhone downloads.

これまでの携帯ではモブログと呼ばれるような、メールからブログの内容を書いて送るだけでブログへの投稿ができる仕組みが一般的だった。だがこれは仕様は存在しない、言わば各ブログごとで実装するもので仕組みが複雑ではあった。 App Storeからインストール可能　大抵のブログエンジンにはXML-RPCによる投稿機能がある。それを使ってiPhone/iPod Touch向けにブログ投稿機能を提供するのがこのソフトウェアだ。今回紹介するオープンソース・ソフトウェアはWordpress for iPhone、iPhone/iPod TouchからWordPressへの投稿クライアントだ。 for iPhoneとなっているが、App Storeからダウンロードして利用するアプリケーションでありiPod Touchでも利用できる。記事をローカルに保存しておくことや、フォトライブラリやiPhoneのカメラ機能で撮った写真を貼付することができる。なお、動作はWordPress 2.5.1以上、またはWordPress.comで動作する。

iPhone／iPod touchは「Jail Break」という作業をしないかぎり、ユーザーがソフトを勝手にインストールできないため、サードパーティー製ソフトを追加する正式な手段はApp Store経由だけ。3月にすでに発表済みのことだが、App Storeで販売するソフトは、価格の7割が開発者の手に入り、3割がアップルの手数料。「フリーソフトの場合は、アップルは料金を取りません」とジョブズ氏が説明すると、会場からは拍手が沸き起こった。ソフトはFairPlay DRMで保護されるため、不正コピーを防ぐ仕組みも用意されている。　さらにジョブズ氏は、「まずは22カ国でApp Storeをオープンします。続いて62カ国にまで拡大する予定です。10MB以下のサイズのソフトは携帯電話網／無線LAN／パソコンのiTunes Store経由──の3通りで購入できます。それ以上のサイズの場合は、無線LANかパソコンのiTunes Store経由で購入することになります」と、説明。パソコンを経由しなくてもiPhoneから直接ソフトを購入できるわけだ。なお、App Storeに加えて、企業が自社用ソフトをインストールするための仕組みや、大学など100台以上のiPhoneにまとめてソフトをインストールするのに便利な手段も別途用意するとのこと。
