If you're able to watch TV on your iPhone or iPod touch right now, you're probably having something streamed to your handheld device. That may change - your phone may soon be equipped with a digital TV tuner to pick up the signals sent out by your local stations.

Sling Media, the company behind the popular (and very cool) settop boxes that allow you to stream cable from your house to your computer, looks like it has outdone itself. At this week's Macworld the company will be showing off its upcoming iPhone application, which effectively gives iPhone owners instant access to their Cable TVs and Tivos from anywhere they have a network connection. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait a little longer (the company says that the app will be submitted to Apple some time in Q1), but it looks like it will be well worth the wait.

Web video service Joost is looking to the iPhone for a big comeback. Joost was one of the first services to take the idea of watching TV shows online. But after launching last year to much fanfare, it was eclipsed by newer sites such as Hulu and Veoh.

After announcing an updated version of Apple TV early on Thursday, Apple released a new version of iTunes (Windows and Mac) to support the changes. The new iTunes update also adds an option that enables users to choose a dark background for Grid View and improves accessibility. You will need the iTunes update in order to use all the new features in Apple TV.

MobiTV, a company specializing in providing live and on demand video content to mobile phones and desktop computers, has announced that now it also supports the iPhone.

Electronista is reporting that a number of common applications, including the iPad's YouTube viewer, Netflix, and ABC's TV viewer, are running at downsampled resolutions over the 3G connection-or simply not at all. Well, it official. The iPhone 3G is legitimately coming to Thailand. In a recent interview, I had stated that I had some doubts that the iPhone would come to Thailand so soon, citing that they did not have any confirmed deals for content, which is what really rakes in the money in the whole iPhone money machine. But soon after that interview, there were some events which hinted towards a Thailand launch. It now looks like the baby brother in Thailand's trio of major phone operators, True Move, who is often over looked or forgotten, has sealed the deal with Apple. Commenting on the question of what happened to their rumored deal, AIS has stated that the deal with TrueMove is nonexclusive, leaving the door open for speculation that AIS is still in negotiations with Apple.
