Two of the biggest smartphone launches this year will be those of the Palm Pre and the iPhone 3G S. The Pre launched a few weeks back and the iPhone 3G s is set to burn up the doors at AT&T Friday. IGN has a comparison of the two phones, and on paper, they are surprisingly similar to each other.

A few hours ago the iPhone Dev team released the redsn0w tool for jailbreaking your first-gen iPhone, the iPhone 3G, and the iPod touch first and second generation, while the iPhone 3G S has yet to be jailbroken. The unlock tool is available for Mac OS X and Windows, and it's available on torrents now. Please note that the redsn0w for Windows has been re-released due to a bug and it went live a few minutes ago while this article was being wrote.
Apple's own Phil Schiller said that the company's holiday product lineup is set for this year, but that's not stopping the rumor mill from claiming that an 8GB version of the iPhone 3GS is still on the way. No less that two unnamed sources are saying that AT&T will begin selling an 8GB iPhone 3GS for US$99 before Christmas, according to Boy Genius Report.
