Analytics,data and commercial real estate.Is there one without the other? For most, the answer is a definitive NO. I have been in this business for a kajillion years and have never seen or heard of a deal that did not involve the numbers. No matter what your level of commercial real estate expertise you have got to do the number crunching. Below I have featured a few sites(with some observations) that provide various pieces of the analytics and data puzzle.

Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation (PARC) has a dual mission as both a non-profit real estate development/management company and a public space maintenance and enhancement organization. As a non-profit organization, PARC owns real estate primarily on the Passyunk Avenue retail corridor from Federal Street to McKean Street. It arose in the United States in the early 1980s, and has gradually continued to reform many aspects of real estate development, urban planning, and municipal land-use strategies.

There's an important debate taking place right now, as you know, about what will happen to the suburbs and particularly the more distant exurbs when economic conditions and the real estate market pick up a little more. On one side are the suburbanists, such as Joel Kotkin and Wendell Cox, who believe that the march of the affluent to distant locations will simply continue, and we will be building more subdivisions 30 and 40 miles out from the cities. Then there are the urbanists, such as Christopher Leinberger, who argue that the Great Recession marks a demographic turning point, and communities far from the urban center are going to be much less attractive to the next generation of affluent homebuyers.

The report concludes, however, by cautioning that the high housing costs in these communities threaten that equity and must be addressed through "attainable housing programs." It also predicts that Detroit, Phoenix, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Miami, Atlanta and Cleveland display the greatest indications that they'll develop a walkable urbanism.
