TASA Joins Launch of CoSN's Critical Initiative to Empower 21st Century Superintendents
April 2, 2008
TASA is pleased to announce its participation in an exciting and innovative new leadership initiative—Empowering the 21st Century Superintendent—launched this week by the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN). The new CoSN effort, joined also by the Colorado and North Carolina administrator associations, provides superintendents with the latest tools and resources they need to understand the transformative role of education technology, and lays out a blueprint for technology leadership and action. The initiative is designed to help superintendents build their knowledge and skills to become more effective, visionary technology leaders in their communities. An advisory committee of superintendents provided direction for the initiative and CoSN conducted focus groups and personal interviews to help develop a robust set of resources for superintendents. Resources include:
*
Five Themes & Action Steps for Technology Leadership (detailed toolkit; PDF)
*
Empowering the 21st Century Superintendent (four-minute video that features superintendents—including Annette Griffin, Carrollton-Farmer's Branch ISD, and Hector Montenegro, Arlington ISD— sharing personal thoughts about their own roles as catalysts for 21st century learning)
