SPAULDING WOODEN BOAT CENTER

The Spaulding Center is one of the last remaining wooden boat yards on the west coast. Entering this “cathedral of wooden boats” is like stepping back in time. The filtered light, the sawdust and wood chips on the floor, the smell of paint and varnish and the rows of hand tools tell you that this is where boats are still being built the traditional way, with skilled shipwrights using natural materials.

The Center was built on the Sausalito waterfront in 1951 by Myron Spaulding, concert violinist, legendary sailor, and yacht designer and builder. In 2002, the Spauldings' generous gift turned this functional and historic boat yard into a non-profit charitable organization and living museum.

NOTICE OF RACE

The Sausalito Yacht Club Race Program, under the leadship of James Rigler, has something to offer for every level of racer. From casual club racing and handicap fleets to highly competitive one-design racing with fleets like the J105s and the 1D35s.

Our Race committee has trained in US Sailing race management courses and we are regularly supported by SYC member, Jeff Zarwell, a certified National Race Officer and a race management professional.

Our full time committee boat lets us set the line right on courses that are out where the wind is. We regularly run races for the YRA and Master Mariners.

You'll love our welcoming atmosphere back at the SYC club house. Our onboard videos produced by James Rigler, Rigler Productions, are the best on the bay and our bar and galley with chef, Tony Kzaz, ranks at the top.

We look forward to seeing you out on the water and back at the club.

Northern California PHRF - Obtain a Certificate

Obtaining a NCPHRF Certificate

Wether you are racing the beer cans at your local club, participating in the YRA Summer Series, or embarking on an ocean race down the coast, you will most likely need a Northern California PHRF certificate. A copy of your certificate should be kept on your boat whenever you are racing. To obtain a NCPHRF certificate for your boat, Download a copy of the application or just fill out this interactive PDF of the NCPHRF application. Once you've completed the interactive PDF, print out the application and return the signed form with the appropriate fees to the YRA office. Turn around time for a certificate is generally one week.
