Just to try and get a discussion started: How do you use Edtech in your science classroom?

I am lucky enough to have laptops available most days so I use them often. One way that I use them is to have my students work on a wiki every week or two. As a way of having them review they have to go in and create or update entries in the wiki on topics we have discussed in the past week. They often engage more with the material then if I just made them review or write a test. I know there are many more out there....

I use Pasco Probeware (with Data Studio software sometimes) for staic charge experiments, circuit board activities, It's expensive equipment but a worthwhile motivational tool.
Use brainpop and brainpop quizzes on student laptops and other interactive sites, students do the quizzes and report a mark to me.
Voicethread for animal adaptation projects, then embedded in wiki.
I used a wikispace for my grade 8's at the beginning of the year to do a scientific report on the gliders they made in class.
Students sometimes access sites and videos that I put on my wiki. fletcherwiki.wikispaces.com
Use wikicommons to search for images for students to make a visual glossary for the unit we are studying.

I guess I'm using Edtech quite a bit, oh and I use the smartboard on a daily basis. I don't find my students making leaps and bounds but it makes teaching and learning more fun and meaningful.

I like the idea of using a wiki as a portfolio and as a place for students to make their own notes, but I'm not quite there yet.

We have an proposal in the works for some private funding for probeware, and SmartBoards. I've not used brainpop but I'll check it out.
Is your voicethread public? I'd love to check it out. I love voicethread but so far all I've made is my own portfolio. I've been trying to figure out how to use it in class in a way that makes sense and is meaningful for HS students. Wonder if there is a Edtech voicethread group??
