Hi All,

Just want to share an interesting OCW/OER compilation post I did the other day, which you might find useful.

This post is about smashing all free University learning related OCW and OER resources and collections discovered into an all-in-one quick-to-access/find juicy compilation.

To prevent / deter spam, I would like to bring this group setting option to your attention:

Instead of a public group opens to anyone, you may wish to set "who can join" to a "moderated" setting, which means that one needs to apply / request to be admitted to a group. You can change the setting in "Group Admin" > > Group Overview > > Who can join (Apply to join -- moderator approval required or By invitation only)

Your group is of great valuable resources, and we'd love to assist you to keep its high content quality. Ultimately the group owner and group members have the "responsibilities" to actively monitor, control the content (or actively remove inappropriate ones), etc. Group manager also has many group settings - like to invite you to read the "Group" in our Help to learn more about various options available to you.

Hi Maggie,

So far I'm way not keen on this new setting. I've been trying it out in the four groups that I manage and here's what I'm finding:

I need to actually go to My Groups/Manage Groups either each time that I get notified of a request or guess (if I let them accumulate a little) as to whether or not there are any requests pending.

Also, there isn't a way that I see to respond via comment to someone when I accept their request. Thus they send a kind note with their request and I can't welcome them.

In general, it's been really unclear to me (albeit I'm fairly random) how to communicate with folks directly (eg. what's private? what's public? and how do I know and how do I do so?). I'd also like to be able to post group-wide messages (are these in the forums? if so, keeping the language the same would be dandy, eg. GROUP forums.)

For example, I think this message is going to be posted publically while I would prefer to be able to have contacted you more directly, and privately.

Can you help me? Do I need to reconfigure the settings?
