Is Diigo planning to release a public API (e.g., see del.icio.us's APIs at http://del.icio.us/help/api/ and http://del.icio.us/help/json/) and if so, when is the expected release of this API?

yes, codes are being written. However, we need to carefully review them before releasing. We have many very urgent issues to deal with first.

Although no definite time line, it's coming... So stay tuned.. We will make an announcement when it's ready.

Thanks, Maggie! I really like this new version of Diigo, but I'm having a hard time convincing my fellow developers to switch given they can't access it via an API. Good to know one is in the works.

Help us get them in... Diigo is for sure the coolest social bookmarking / knowledge platform out there :-) We'd love to have your fellow developers' involvement and sharing of their knowledge with the community! More people participate, more everyone in the community will benefit.

Nice to see the question being brought up - I'm having a hard time convincing myself to *really* use apiless diigo. Once it's out - count me in ;-)

YES, an API would be great!
Diigi is the best tool to organize my online reseach, but integration is missing (i would like to see it integrated with "web note happy").
So, API please !-)

Hi,

I'm now challenging to use the Diigo API. But, I can't post bookmarks. First time, the API response was 200. But it is not bookmarked. And now API response is 400. I couldn't find any difference.

Can you show us tiny sample(Any language/No Error Handling) ?

I hope I didn't post this twice. I submitted this earlier but I don't see it on the forum.

Is there or will there be a way to "scrape" content and save it to a bookmark - like what ClipMarks does? I really would like to be able to copy content to a note or something because sometimes pages that I bookmark go away, and the content is no longer there. If the page doesn't come up, then highlights are no good. Annotations are OK, but they don't let me copy any content, like a graphic or something.

ClipMarks really nails this feature because you can clip an entire page, part of a page, or even multiple parts of a page and add them to a bookmark. I love this, but I can't stand their interface.

when you highlight some text, that text is saved and clipped in a sense, though highlighted picture is not saved.

Also, note that we provide caching of the original page in case it goes away.

So how long is a page cached?

I still think if you would allow users to copy content like ClipMarks, you would have a killer feature. Combining something like that with all of your other features would put Diigo at the top of the heap.

again, Diigo highlights are saved and clipped. go to "my bookmarks" and click the orange "expand"
