With the successful introduction of V3, ironically there are more spam.

We're adding a lot more anti-spam measures. Meanwhile, please kindly report any spam activities that you have noticed. Together let's make Diigo a really awesome place for our community users to enjoy, and keep out those spammers.

Hello,

I currently got message spam from a member which I think did also create his/her profile only for this purpose. What shall / can I do about this? You might assign me a person responsible.

I think this might have occurred now because of the widespread media coverage about diigo v.3.

Yes. we're implementing more anti-spam measures. Meanwhile, If you notice any spam bookmarks or users, please go to their profile and flag them as abuse / spammer. We will remove their user privilege

We'd very much appreciate the community members' assistance to timely report any issues that you have noticed. Together let's keep Diigo the best possible platform for knowledge users and keep those bad guys out!

Just yesterday, I discovered, via Google, a piece of software for sale to assist our spamming brethren in polluting social bookmarking the way they've already polluted email. This software (RSS Bookmarker) is designed to "drip" bookmarks into accounts gradually, so they aren't detected as spam. Gaah! Can't these jerks leave anything alone? I hope Diigo and other bookmarking sites figure out and share new and better ways to defeat this new annoyance.

I really hate spam - annoying and wasting everyone's, including their own time.

We've just added a few things that we'd appreciate our community users' help when notice spam:

1) Each bookmark now has a "Flag as spam" button
2) User - "Flag as spammer"
3) A spam control link under the footer of every single page:

It is important that the Diigo environment is properly maintained. For
this, we'd really need the help of all Diigo users:

If you see any spam, graffiti or simply useless junk, please report them
by clicking that link and reporting the URL / any comment you wish
(optional)

In particular, we would like to set a high standard for a public sticky
note: unless it adds something informative and substantive to the
associated webpage, it is considered junk and may be removed.

We will continue monitoring and rolling out tighter spam /junk control
measures. If you have suggestions, please kindly share them here.

Again, like to re-iterate, if you notice any spam, please kindly flag them as spam bookmark or spammer.

Diigo reserves the right to delete any abuse / user account that we deem as spam. Each group admin / moderator also has the right to determine what to delete and who to ban from the group.

What about someone withing a group not displaying links that fall into the category?
How can you flag them?

If you notice any abuse in a group, please inform the group creator / administrator - he/ she has the right to ban the user, or assign moderator right to any of the group members.

When V3 is introduced, we will make the communication among members even easier.

Of course, if there is any issue, please don't hesitate to inform us at info at diigo dot com. We'll continue taking lots of measures - along with all our members' help, we want to make Diigo a meaningful platform where all community members can benefit from quality collective wisdom knowledge sharing.

Thanks for letting us know.

Without going into too much details (remember, we are fighting those bad spammers - don't want them to gain on the system :-) ), we are doing various measures to monitor them actively and continuously trying to improve.

Of course, we also really appreciate our community users' help. So, please do actively help us police the community and report "flag spammer / or flag spam bookmark" if you do notice any. We will take care of them (there is a review process.) Thanks!

Now i have a new problem. Diigo does not recognize tags with a hyphen in it.

FYI: not being able to pull up your tags - this should be a temporary problem. We're upgrading our search now, and are re-indexing and temporarily disabled the service. It should get back-on shortly = will put up a notice when ready.

Thanks for your patience. We're taking the spam fighting seriously and looking into additional measures to tighten the filtering.
