Why my sticky note can only be private.?

i want my sticky note to be seen by others.how can i choose public?i did not see the word of "public"?why

What do you use: the Diigo toolbar or the Diigolet? Which browser do you use?

Right now, I use Firefox with the Diigo toolbar. And after selecting the appropriate command for adding a sticky note, I get a pop-up window with a drop-down field inside that is set by default to "Private". But I can also set it to "Public" after clicking the little arrow on the right-hand side of it. Can you see that field in your sticky note pop-up window? Can you change the setting in there?

I did some more testing with different browsers as well as Diigolet and Diigo toolbar. However, the problem appears to be related to certain pages rather the browser and Diigolet or toolbar.

I could reproduce your problem when trying to add sticky notes to *certain* pages and trying to make them public. For example, there was no setting "Public" when I tried to add a sticky note on http://www.google.de/ (just as an experiment).

Can you give an example of a page where you had this problem so that the people behind Diigo can more easily reproduce this problem?

We impose some "restriction" - min. of 2 friends to minimize random testing for new users. - see HELP for more details

Please also note that public sticky note should be made with great discretion. thanks

Another restriction: It is not allowed to post public sticky notes on home page such as www.yahoo.com now.

Here's what I wanted to do:
- Make notes about a client's website and share it with them (without them having to be Diigo users)
- I made highlighted sticky notes all over some different pages (private)
- I made a list and made a Webslides for it.
- Problem #1: My private notes are not automatically imported into Webslides (I have to make new ones)
- Problem #2: I can't share a Webslides list without making it fully public (I can't just email it to a few people I know privately)
- My workaround: Keeping it all private and use "Forward" to forward the list to my clients

Any thoughts?

Also - another request is that we should be able to highlight or sticky anything. ie if I select a widget or a graphic or a button, I should be able to attach a sticky note, donch think?

Lastly - I love the Diigo toolbar and await one for Safari. In the meantime, I use the diigolet, but unlike the toolbar, I can't set a preference to mark all bookmarks private by default (which I would prefer to opt in to share, not opt out).

PS. I can't see why anyone would still use delicious after this. Great job.

Your workaround is a good one - if you mark those pages private to start with, then your original intention is not to make it public in the first place. Forward to share is a good solution.

You should be able to highlight text, image, and flash / video. If you can highlight, then you should be able to add sticky note. We don't think it's a good idea to allow highlighting a widget...

We're soooo busy with the new toolbars / site development - don't have plan to develop a Safari toolbar anytime soon (it's a lot of resources and ongoing commitment to support a new platform). Our new toolbars are really, really awesome. You may wish to explore using Firefox browser later? :-)

My question: I have already invited two friends to sigh up with DIiigo, and then how can I make friens with them? I really intend to enjoy the public sticky notes. Thanks!

Currently, If your friends signed up diigo with the email address you sent the invitation email, they become to your friends automatically.

We know this is not convenient. However, You can have much more freedom to add and invite friends in the next release.

i've tried repeatedly, and searched this site and can't figure out how to activate the public/private option--it is always grayed-out and set on private. also, the 'add sticky note' tbar button does nothing.

all very frustrating because diigo seems amazing and is working fine for others...

Sorry - our new help is being updated now.

Public highlights and sticky notes should be done with great care. Please see 2nd paragraph of http://www.diigo.com/help/stickynote/2. (Note: we're in the process of making adding new friends (especially within the Diigo community) easier. Meanwhile, you can add friends by sending invites to them.

(FYI: for now before our "add friend" feature to invite existing Diigo users rolls out, you need to use our "INVITE" to add 2 new friends in order to make public sticky notes. )
