Please allow highlighting for less than four characters!

Hi there,

I use diigo for the Chinese internet as well. Since Chinese words are mostly composed of two characters, it is impossible to highlight just one word and add a note with the four characters rule. This allows me to mark vocabulary that I had to look up conviniently on web pages which I store and might have to work with later.
So is it possible to allow highlighting and adding sticky notes for less than four characters!!???

I would appreciate such a change!

Highlight on certain elements or highlight overlapping is not allowed.
Could you please provide us the url and the text you are trying to highlight so that we can check it?

Full toolbar support requires lots of resources - both R&D & on-going maintenance. Our to-do list is already a mile long & we must prioritize. Always a balance between must-have and would be nice...

I did try to add Diiglet to Avant (given that Avant is an IE mod), but was unsuccessful multiple times (communication between the two I believe).

I downloaded IE, downloaded Diiglet, and went that route.

I am a fan of this tool - thanks for your effort. Good fun!

[Bug] Toolbar hidden since new version / Firefox v.3

Hi there,

I'm not quite sure if my problem is created by Mozilla Firefox v.3 and/or one of its extension or your newest toolbar version, but it's definitely an annoying bug:

Everytime I restart, "normally" the diigo toolbar is not showing up in the main toolbar of Firefox (that's were I have put it, but that worked all the time before, so not the problem), it's somehow hidden.
I get this issue only solved if I log out and log in again. At first, I though it is only, because I was logged out, but it does also happen now (at the moment it's like that again! -.-) even when I'm logged in!

Of course my additional question is, why does diigo log out ifself most of the time I restart?
This wasn't happening before some weeks. Again I don't know if it's the fault of FF3, although I used Flock v.1.x before Mozilla Firefox v.3 ...my configuration: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (32bit), Mozilla Firefox extensions: http://twurl.nl/bwg3ob

Could you check Firefox ==>Options ==> Privacy ==>Privacy data ===> Is "Always clear my private data when I closed firefox" checked? If yes, please uncheck it, otherwise, firefox will clear diigo cookie.

Hi Joel,

"Always clear my private data when I closed firefox" is unchecked.
I also accept third-party cookies. I have added diigo.com to the cookie whitelist in CCleaner.
Hope that helps, because my whitelist was gone somehow.

Hi, the Diigo Toolbar has a nice autocomplete feature built in. But it works with the Enter key, and it's inconvenient to use it under Firefox (3), which does the autocompleting through the Right arrow key.

Let me suggest to allow the autocompleting also through the Right Arrow button (but the Enter can be also used for this). I think many people misses to push the right button, so many times.

When I searched my bookmarks with the tag aggregator I had two instances of aldaily - http://aldaily.com/

That is the only one I've found this morning as I can't remember what I was searching when I first encountered the problem.

Another reason I believe there are a lot of duplicates is that I have about 1,000 more bookmarks in diigo than I do in delicious - they should be almost identical. I imported all my delicious bookmarks when I started using diigo and use your utility to post to both.

Hi,

As a longtime delicious user, I recently decide that I am going to migrate to diigo.com. What appeals to me most is the well-designed extension they provide for firefox users. However, I soon found out that the extension can't highlight(capture) text on a webpage when vimperator is enabled, suggesting a possible conflict between the two extensions. Is there any way to solve it? Thank you very much

For your information:
I am using Diigo toolbar 3.1.5.9 and vimperator 1.1 on firefox 3.

I installed vimperator, but it woked well with Diigo toolbar. Did you mean you can't highlight text on chrome://vimperator/locale/intro.html? Diigo doesn't support this kind of non-standard URLs.

I test the two extensions together again on a xp machine. Now it works! Bet it must be the vista box I initially tested them on to blame.

What I still miss here, is the ability to check certain services!

Hi Maggie

I am using windows XP, screen resolution 1280x960 at work and 1280x720 when using my laptop. I am also using Mozilla Firefox versions 2 and 3.

If you open the Bookmark page and scroll down to the bottom of the bookmarks list, you will a number of drop-down menus -starting with "More Actions" -similar to the ones at the top of the list.

The problem is that the menus are overlapping

I have sent a screenshot to "Joel Liu"

I remember the same problem was present at the top of the page during the beta testing of the new Diigo and it was fixed.

So i was reading the privacy policy...this in particular.

"When the "view mode" for annotation is disabled, or when you are not logged in the Diigo service, the Diigo Toolbar does not send any information about the web pages you visit. Otherwise, the Diigo toolbar sends the URL of the page you visit to our servers for the sole purpose of looking up annotations on that page. Such information is not recorded on our servers."

View Mode annotation filter was available in the older version, prior to our complete V3 re-built. We've built the main foundation and will be continuing adding the few missing components. Stay tuned...

Cleared.

Earlier we had a view annotation filter in V2 toolbar. On our to-do, will bring it back again.

Meanwhile, just like any open platform, people should use great discretion when making public annotations and help / policing from user community is very important as well. When you notice spam / junk or spammer, please kindly report / mark them as spammer. Together let's make Diigo a really awesome knowledge platform that all can enjoy.

Sorry, there is no such option now. However, you can change the highlight style in Diigo toolbar ==>Opions ==>Bookmark and highlight tab.

Hi there diigo team,

I want to ask, if there's any tool for diigo (in the pipes maybe?) for checking bookmarks (at least manually triggered) for errors or total "loss"? I mean, I currently go through all the old, strange, boring and now not-existing-anymore hyperlinks I bookmarked around 2004 - 2006 in Mozilla Firefox v.1.0 and imported then way back in 2006 into my diigo account. I'm just running into so many 404 Page Not found and non-existing errors...

And what I also do miss, is a preview windows (screenshot or so) or sth. similar.
Maybe that would speed up my deletion process (90% of the bookmarks at least ;)).

And hey, I'm currently stressed, as it is stupid annoying, that diigo doesn't instantly recognize retagging! Sometimes I resave a slightly other URL, so it is ok to delete the old bookmark, but if not, I'm doomed, because I was so stupid sometimes now, to first retag and then delete. I'll now delete everything and retag completely...

Of course I did reload, when possible retagged items should be filtered out (I delete only inside my tag filter, of which I acknowledge of course which are old, as these have a special tag!), but as said, this doesn't help, if it don't works instantly. Why?? Same goes for del.icio.us, also posted there with some time delay...

1) There is a preview link under every bookmark item. After you mouse over to a bookmark item, you will see the "Preview" link.

2) If you see the 404 page in the original link, you can also check the cache page which maybe existed.

3) If most of the bookmark pages are cached in the system, do you still need the "Checking" bookmark feature? If yes, please tell us the scenario.

A number of things aren't working when I bookmark or send a site

I use the Diigo toolbar and a number of things aren't working

1. When I click bookmark and the window opens, there is normally a number checkboxes at the bottom. Now, there is a progress message saying "Loading recommended tags..." and underneath it "Share to a Group". The other checkboxes are missing.

2. When I click send, and I try to fill in some names in the "To:" field, normally I am given a dropdown menu of close matches to the person or address I am trying to type in. Now, I get no such dropdown menu.

Also, the drop side bar doesn't work either. When I have the Readers tab under the This URL tab open, it doesn't show any readers, but there is an eternal loading animation.

Also, there isn't anythign in my Lists dropdown.

It seems some data haven't been loaded back to the toolbar. You can sign out and sign in again and see whether the problem is solved in this way.

I tried logging in and logging out. Uninstalling then installing. Still not working. Can't get any of my bookmarks in the sidebar.

Funny thing, is it works at home. I'm running Firefox 3 and the only addons I have installed are...

- Evernote Web Clipper
- GMail Notifier
- Remember the Milk for Gmail

I've also tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling. Doesn't work. Also doesn't work in Flock. Wonder if my company's firewall is stopping the data.

Can we have the unread bookmarks directly available in the sidebar and the diigo toolbar menu? I think it was possible in the old (v2) toolbar, and I consider it one of the most important features.

They are in "Diigo" Main menu (in Firefox - between Bookmarks and Tools) - not in sidebar...

Thanks, I totally missed that. So maybe then the problem is that Diigo has 3 places (the menu, the Diigo button on the toolbar, and the sidebar) which all do more or less the same, but some functions are missing here, and some there. Better to have one place with all the functionality. It's really a bit confusing and should be better consolidated.

Unable To Delete Existing Sticky Notes

I am not able to delete existing Sticky Notes since a delete, or any other option, does not show in the pop-up window after the Sticky Note is created. This is extremely inconvenient and makes Diigo unusable to me.

I am able to delete a Highlight after it has been created because delete and other options show in the pop-up window.

I upgraded to Firefox 3 since I last used Diigo. Is this problem being caused by Firefox 3? Or have you eliminated the option of deleting a Sticky Note after it has been created?

The sticky notes I am referring to are the ones that are called "In-Situ Sticky Notes" in the Diigo Help section. There is no "trash can" in the upper right corner of the sticky note, as you indicated there is, the only options there are:

Actions . . . . . . . . . . . . . X (= Close)
Add Sticky Note
Help

Note that the above refers to an existing sticky note, one that I want to Edit or Delete, not one that I want to create.

Although in the Help section for the In-Situ Sticky Notes it states that "User can delete (but not edit) his own sticky notes.", both options, Edit and Delete, were available to me within the pop-up window since I began using Diigo months ago. Now they are not, why were they removed? These are essential features for my usage, without them Diigo is useless to me.
