Annotated link not working

I've marked up a web page. If I send the annotated link to someone that's either me or a friend, the link works. Otherwise, people are getting a page not found response from the Diigo server.

Hi,

From my tagroll, if you click on any phrase (ie a tag with more than one word ) you get a 'no bookmarks tagged ..." response.

So for "international development" the URL is:
http://www.diigo.com/user/sussexcdec/international%20development

It should be:

http://www.diigo.com/user/sussexcdec/%22international%20development%22

I get the same problem if I want to create an rss feed, so:

http://www.diigo.com/rss/user/Sussexcdec/international+development

which returns nothing, instead of:

http://www.diigo.com/rss/user/Sussexcdec/%22international+development%22

Can you help at all?

Any answer to this at all? I would like to think there was an answer at Diigo's end, other than me having to go through all my multiple word tags and join them together.

We've just hired someone for 4 weeks to transfer all the links on our website into Diigo, and we'd like to be able to use them on our website. The tagroll is only one part of that, but I'd like to use it. And if you allow multiple word tagging, surely this should be workable in a tagroll. Or RSS feed.

I've noticed that if you click on a multiple word tag from the tag community pages you get the same problem too.

Can this be fixed, please?

Hi,

I use Diigo very often, and some times I would like to edit the link of a bookmark, but it is not possible and I talked about it from Diigo v2 forums. Does anybody more think that it should be a must for Diigo v3 ?

currently Diigo only allows you to edit the url while saving the bookmark. Once saved, the only way to edit the url is to delete the bookmark and save it again.

I had thought this was to be included in V3??

Definitely a serious requirement particularly if you have taken the time to tag and comment/highlight.

Delete and Re-add means wasting time redoing all this.

for example, if you have highlighted on a url, and then changes that url to another url, do you transfer those highlights to the new url? and if so, how do we know that highlight even exist on the new url?

can you share the scenarios under which you really want to edit the url?

I assume that in situations like that it can be very complex, but the simple case I think everyone has happened is this. I am searching something, and find it inside a web, for example (www.oneweb.com/level1/level2/level3/example.htm). Ok... I like this web and make an quick bookmark of it, but what I really wanted to bookmark is the main level (www.oneweb.com), and not all the direction.
These ability to edit links would be very useful for links saved 'quickly', and after edit them to get only the main section, not ALL the direction, which a lot of times is not useful.

in the new toolbar version, you can easily remove a bookmark from the toolbar

So I think you will find "remove and re-bookmark" is just as easy as "edit"

No. When I am taking quick bookmarks, I do not have time to edit them and get organized. Afterwards, when I, on Diigo's web, try to organize them, it would be VERY heavy to delete the links and create them again. And doing this through Diigo's toolbar would be necessary to enter again on that web pages.

The ability to edit links is implemented on most bookmarking services. I like Diigo, and I think should not be below others bookmarking services.

Also:

If i want to COMPLETELY remove my dependency on firefox bookmarks, there are bookmarks - generally that have java - that I want to put into Diigo. These are things like bookmarks with code that opens them in firefox's sidebar, and such. I could tag them all as @mycomputer and filter them and have them at my disposal.

So being able to edit the bookmark URL right away will allow me to use - and add - the bookmarks that i can only keep in firefox and let me work with diigo and diigo alone.

I think another use case would be where I access a blog article from an RSS feed, and the link contains something like www.foo.com/blog/post/1?rss=1; which I'll accidentally bookmark. What I really wanted to bookmark was www.foo.com/blog/post/1.

My advice for the development team would be to allow users to change the URL, but drop annotations/highlights for the page. Alert users with a pop-up, "You are changing the URL for this entry. YOU WILL LOSE ALL SAVED HIGHLIGHTS AND STICKY NOTES! Are you sure you wish to proceed? [Change URL] [Cancel]"

I too am not using Diigo simply because of the lack of Edit Link functionality. I agree with Chris' idea of how to deal with Saved Highlights and Sticky Notes. I think it makes a lot of sense.

Say, last March, I wrote a story called "Marginalia in the Library of Babel." http://writerresponsetheory.org/wordpress/about/mark-marino/marginalia-in-the-library-of-babel/

It worked by offering a story in the stickynotes on a group of pages. To navigate the pages (and to keep people in the story), I added navigation buttons with simple links to the subsequent bookmarked pages. Clicking an arrow took you to the next bookmark.

Now, when you click a link, the new page loads in the Sticky note, not in the original page's window. Of course, the Stickynote is too small for the page. Can I still use Stickynotes to help people get to other pages?

You can add a target to the anchor tag. Ex.:

LINK

The values you can use are:
_blank
_self
_parent
_top

I added a sticky note here as an example. This isn't an ideal solution, because not everyone would know how to do this, or think of it. (I had to search my memory banks, and then Google, to recall the html!) Could the old way be restored?
