Diigo toolbar IE7 bug

I'm experiencing following symptoms with Diigo Toolbar for IE7.

#1. whenever I open a new tab, IE7 loses focus for about a second. You can see this by watching IE's titlebar.
#2. opening new tab is slow. (because of #1)
#3. Whenever I open a link in new tab, IE7 loses focus.

I disabled all add-ons except Diigo Toolbar, still the same symptom.
If Diigo Toolbar is enabled but not displayed, the symptoms dissapear.

My guess is that IE7 loses focus because Diigo Toolbar is getting focus.

Yes. notice this problem, a rather strange one... We will try to see if we can find a solution for this..

Meanwhile, It should refocus very quickly, right? Otherwise, use your mouse and point -> should refocus again.

I have just reinstalled the toolbar in IE7 and am still getting this issue - except that IE7 does not regain focus.

any news on a fix?

problem with Internet Explorer version of Diigo

I love the Diigo tool for Firefox but the latest version for IE7 is a problem because it takes forever to close IE7 when the Diigo toolbar is displayed. The Diigolet works fine. I'm using WinXP. Any suggestions?

Sorry, the new toolbar is not available yet, due to some compatible problems with Windows XP and Vista. However, we finally solved it. It will be available later.

You can use diigolet ( http://www.diigo.com/tools/diigolet ) first.

Still nothing Joel?

The toolbar installs, but no window pops when I press 'Bookmark'.

And Diigolet won't drag-n-drop to IE7 toolbars either :(

Hi,

Installed Diigo 3.0 toolbar in Firefox 3 Beta 5 with no problems, been working fine for over a week. Tried to install Diigo 3.0 toolbar for IE7, but IE7 will not even load after installing it and reports a problem with Diigo. Any suggestions for troubleshooting? Tried searching the forum first, but search doesn't bring up relevant posts in first two pages; after that, I gave up on search as means for finding help in this forum.

BTW, after right clicking on the IE 7 menu bar, can you see the diigo toolbar in the right click menu list?

Thanks for the quick reply Joel. IE 7 wouldn't even open, so I had to uninstall the Diigo Toolbar and clear out the remaining Diigo registry entries before it would open. The other toolbars I have installed in IE7 are the IE Dev Toolbar and the latest Google Toolbar; other add-ons include IE7 Pro, Fiddler 2, Send to Mindjet MM7, Send to OneNote, Adobe Reader Helper Extension, Adobe Flash and Sun Java. The only other data I can provide are these two application error event messages:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16640, faulting module DiigoToolbar.3.0.49.dll, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x0005da5b.

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16640, faulting module DiigoToolbar.3.0.49.dll, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x0005288e.

I know that's not much, but that's all I got. Any further suggestions?

UPDATE! I thought the issue was solved, but it was not. Here's what's happening: upon installing Diigo 3.0 it works fine until IE 7 is closed and reopened, then I get the error message noted above. If I disable Diigo, IE will load fine, but re-enabling Diigo leads to the same issue upon the next re-opening of IE. I turned on Windows Error Reporting, which prepares 4 files for analysis of the problem: appcompat.txt, manifest.txt,iexplore.exe.hdmp and iexplore.mdmp. All but the manifest.txt file are too large for posting.

Please let me know how to proceed in resolving this problem, as I think y'all have knocked it out of the park with the 3.0 version and want to get it working in IE as well as Firefox.

Hey Joel, I'm on Windows Server 2003 SP2 (development server), but you can use XP as a proxy (at least in terms of supporting a browser extension, unless there's something really unusual about the extension.

I just installed the Toolbar in IE7 and I have the following questions:

1. The "open in new tab" option is no longer on the IE7 right-click menu (although "open in new window" is still present).

2. When I unlock the toolbars, drag the Diigo toolbar to another location, lock the toolbars again, and close IE, the Diigo toolbar reverts to its original location the next time I start up IE.

Any ideas on how to get around these problems? I am especially desperate to get the "open in new tab" functionality back, as I use that all the time.

We will check it. Before the bug was fixed, you can work around it by using diigolet ( http://www.diigo.com/tools/diigolet )

That's fair.

If you have any suggestions about how to get the "open in new tab" option back, I would love to hear them. I have done some web searching, and don't see anything useful.

If it is caused by diigo toolbar, you can uninstall it and just use diigolet instead. The open in new tab function should be back.

BTW, to open links in new tab, you can just middle click the link.

We will try to fix it asap after we find out the bug.

I got the "Open in new tab" back, and it was probably the fault of a different toolbar. Still having some problems with this toolbar, though, so I eagerly await the new release, but will use the diigolet until then. thanks again for the help.

I have installed the toolbar using Vista and IE7. It appears in all it's glory until I log off. Then the next time I open IE7, only the Diigo dropdown menu appears--there is no option to actually bookmark a page, let alone highlight or stickynote it.

I've make sure that thrid party browser extenstions are allowed and I think I've checked most other things that could be to blame.

Is this the problem you are working on? Or is this different from the other toolbar issues folks are havine with IE7?

I'd like to feature Diigo in a training session I'm doing with teachers on 10/12, but I don't want them to try something that won't work after the the training is over.

"Only the Diigo dropdown menu appears" ==> do you mean right-click menu, or the Diigo button on the toolbar? Can you please elaborate more? Drop us an email with screenshot if possible (info at diigo dot com)

We tried both but all seems ok. Please advise your computer specs.

Meanwhile, you can try the diigolet - it does most of the basic Diigo functions.

I too am experiencing the same issue that 'kallison' describes.

I get the full range of features appear on the toolbar after downloading, but when IE7 reboots all I end up with is the Diigo dropdown button on the toolbar. No right click features appear.

The program works well after initial downloading toolbars, but if you open a second browser window or clsoe and reopen IE7, there is nothing except the dropdown box mentioned.

I too have IE7 & Vista on a Sony Vaio: VGN-FE28GP.

Sticky note location in different browsers

When I place a sticky note on a page in Firefox, IE7 shows the sticky note in a different place. Opera doesn't show the sticky note at all, sometimes. At other times, Firefox and Opera display the sticky notes in the correct place, but IE7 shows them in the wrong place. In one instance, IE7 would show the yellow sticky note bubble, but one comment was missing from that thread.

For instance, at www.online-guitar-sale.com, in Firefox I posted a comment at the top-left of the picture of the guy with the guitar. In IE7, the comment buble was several lines above the picture. In Opera, the comment was also up in the main header. Opera did not display the comment at all when I logged in under a different username (even though the username was part of a group that should have seen the comment).
