v3 toolbar

1. The full "Bookmark" action should have an icon, not only text. I prefer moving it to the bookmarks toolbar, so I don't have to keep the entire Diigo toolbar displayed. There it is much easier to detect as an icon, but I believe this is so also on the original toolbar.

2. Optionalize the menubar dropdwon menu. It is very intrusive.

3. The context menu arrangement is also intrusive. I use FF's Customize Menus so it doesn't bother me much, but it is better as a sub-menu. BTW, they don't show on the top even when checked, for me.

The additions to the site look cool. thanks.

I don't mind the Diigo menu in the menu bar.. but i find it a little odd. Most of it's functions are duplicated elsewhere (toolbar, rightclick) so its not really needed. (though I guess it means i could get rid of the toolbar if i wanted)

However Unread and Recently bookmarked would be much more useful as buttons on th toolbar (similar to the messages button. )
A smart "mark read" button would be cool to help you catch up on unread stuff too.

the rightclick options are at the top for me, and I like them. (though again, making them optional would be polite).
Also, i still can't get the search categories to appear directly on the toolbar.

Other than that, i think its a great improvement. good job

I would like to have access to the Unread bookmarks from the toolbar itself. Is that somehow possible? I don't want to use the menubar (I autohide it).

I fully agree with you: Buttons for Unread and Recently bookmarked would be great!

I hear you all!

a few explanations:

- the top diigo menu is there mainly for people who wants to hide the whole diigo toolbar -- will be optional
- context menu: there is an option to set diigo items on the top or not. Is this still not working for you, let's us know.

Uninstall of Diigo breaks Internet Explorer...Repeatedly

I have uninstalled Diigo twice now, and each time it breaks Internet Explorer (7) such that I cannot connect to any websites- IE reports the site is unavailable no matter which site I try. The only way to restore functionality to IE is to reinstall Diigo.

What is going on here? If I want to uninstall a Diigo, I should have that ability without crippling my browser.

It's our first time to hear this problem. You can go to control panel and remove diigo toolbar.
BTW, you can use diigolet http://www.diigo.com/tools/diigolet in IE if you experience problems.

This is exactly how I performed the uninstall. The Diigo uninstall removes some core component of my IE functionality. I cannot uninstall Diigo without breaking IE (under Vista, BTW)

How about close all IE first, then remove the toolbar in Control panel?

That worked. Maybe the uninstaller should automatically force that situation. Diigo's uninstaller doesn't even ask me whether I really want to uninstall.

Thanks for the help. Still have Diigo in Firefox, just wanted to reduce IE overhead as much as possible.

I spoke too soon. I can open websites in IE, but now the Menu Bar has disappeared and is grayed out in the tools menu. Right-clicking on the tabs bar doesn't work either.

Go to IE tools==>Manage addons ===> Enable or Disable add-ons. You can disable diigo add-on if you see it there.

I have already have done that as a stop-gap, but I should really be able to uninstall this software without breaking IE.

The new IE toolbar is in testing process. Many issues related to Vista are solved in the new version. The new one will uninstall the old toolbar completely when you install it. We will invite you to try it soon.

I've been using diigo to bookmark everything for a long time now, and I love the bookmark dialog, and the highlighting and note features, but I have to say ... I literally don't use ANY of the other features of the toolbar. In fact, I move that main button off the diigo toolbar and put int on my main toolbar -- and close the diigo toolbar altogether.

More to the point, I actually use the Yahoo! Delicious bookmarks extension in Firefox. Yep, even though I bookmark everything through Diigo, I have the Diigo toolbar add things to Delicious -- and I'm rather frustrated about it. Because I use their toolbar to access my bookmarks, if I have to make changes to a bookmark (or delete an old one when I find the site I bookmarked is gone and replaced by URL campers) I end up making them on Delicious instead of Diigo, so my Diigo bookmarks are getting out of date! Anyway, I thought I would post a list of the things I "need" from this tool, in hopes that maybe I can stop using two services ;-)

1) Bookmarks Toolbar. Two Modes:

1.A) Recent Bookmarks: This should show the most recent bookmarks on the toolbar, not in a menu, and should allow filtering by tag(s). This lets me see the most recent 7 or 8 bookmarks on the toolbar, and should show a drop-down at the end so I can see the next most recent 20 or so (however many fit on the screen, at least). I use these bookmarks all the time when I bookmark something at home in the evening as a reminder to check it out during work hours (or vice versa). I realize this is *very* much like the "My Bookmarks" feature that's already in the tool, but having it on the toolbar serves as a visual reminder, and makes those most recent ones easier to access.

1.B) Tag Groups: shows each tag (or tag union/intersection) I select as a button on the toolbar which produces a drop down (much like putting folders inside your bookmarks toolbar folder in firefox). Pretty much like above, each menu should show the most recent bookmarks in that tag or tags, and basically serves a similar purpose except with some organization.

2) Search in the sidebar. I can't stress enough how being able to search without opening the web page makes the difference between relying on the bookmark service and just using my own bookmarks folder (and/or google). It should search the local copy, ideally, so it's FAST. It should also have a split results view like the one Delicious' sidebar creates -- so when you do a search you see matching tags, and then you see bookmarks which match. It should also search EVERYTHING in the bookmark (tags, name, url, my comments...). Oh, and I should be able to order the results alphabetically or chronologically (by the order I bookmarked them).

As a side note (I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating) I don't find the web search or highlighting options in the existing Diigo toolbar compelling -- they simply do not compare favorably to existing 3rd party extensions, and as a result they _detract_ from what is otherwise a very good extension (since I don't use, and can't get rid of, your search thing on my right-click menu, it's just annoyingly in the way).

I should add that one of the huge things for Del.icio.us integration was that they support "keywords" on the bookmarks, because it lets me assign a single keyword to a specific URL (even script bookmarklets) and be able to type that work into the address bar and it works -- just like the "real" Firefox bookmarks.

have you tried our " filtered bookmarks" button on the toolbar (which can also be dragged elsewhere) ? It provides some of the features you want above.

in the new toolbar to come out in a few weeks, there will be a sidebar that meets most of these needs.

we will make this optional in the right-click menu also. btw, if you do use a variety of search engines, you should experiment with our customizable search menu -- very handy.

Yeah, I use a lot of search engines ... the problem is that honestly, your menu isn't very handy. I use a plugin which allows me to drag-and-drop text on the page to initiate a search on different engines based on where on the page I drop it -- this plugin supports the OpenSearch standard for adding new engines, etc.

I also use several other plugins which variously update the search box when I actually type edits into a search engine ... and provide the highlighting buttons like what your plugin provides. I guess the summary would be: if your search plugin supported the OpenSearch standard, and ideally if it registered the search engines with Firefox (which would update the default Firefox search box list)... I'd be much more likely to use it. If it could give me drag-and-drop search with some way of selecting the engine via hotkey or via where I drop ... it would likely replace all my other search related plugins ;-)
