Feature request: Customisable start page

BlinkList has a 'quick start page' feature to create a customised full-page multi-column view of your favourite bookmarks. I use this as my browser homepage. I would like to see something similar added to diigo. It could be as simple as a personal url that shows all of our public lists at once, expanded.

A more exciting idea would be a gadget for iGoogle. User could add several of these gadgets to his iGoogle page and configure each one by simply selecting a diigo list or tag whose contents it should display. This is almost already catered for by Google's standard RSS feed gadget and diigo feeds, but it is clumsy to set up and crippled by the 10-feed-item limit and slow feed-refresh rate.

Without one of these options, it will be difficult to fully migrate from BlinkList.

distributing to blinklist & delicious does not work !!!

i am failing repeatedly with setting "save elswhere" to work the way it did before

even delicious does not work
blinklist is not on offer anymore

from the setting is not clear if it was set correctly at all... it just does not work!!!...

it worked nicely in previous version!
so probably i am not to be blamed, i was able to set it with no problems!
if now i am missing step how to set it and check the setting correctly how come i did not miss it in previous version?

for me all other features are pretty inferior...

disasterous version if it is not going to be fixed

I am sorry about the problem. We will look into it.

Blinklist API is broken, so we don't support it.

so the blinklist API (and supposedly 7 others) was not broken before, just few days before?... was it different API?

Some sites don't provide APIs or their APIs are not stable, so we simulate user log-ining and bookmark submitting process in previous version. However, it is very buggy and unstable. We need to build new toolbar very often because those sites do constant changes :((

A possible bug:
When I use FF3, I found it automatically fills my diigo login info to the account input box of http://www.diigo.com/tools/save_to_others. When I submit by accident, it will save my password as *************, not the password of other accounts.
Did you experience similar scenario? Could you try to input your account information again and tell me whether it works?

Ah... that might be why FF2 keeps popping up a "change your password" confirmation box for me.
Simpy started working a few das back, but i only got delicious working last night. I think it might be to do with firefox rewriting the password that is submitted.

(i have the same username for delicious as diigo, but not for simpy. )

It seems to have changed it for delicious now, so it works... but i wonder if it means it wont work next time it tries to log into diigo??

under my Firefox/2.0.0.12 save elswhere is with different delicious username and password... still doesnt work... if i could see the password i put there at least... i checked it several times with checkox checked to get "saved sucessfully"... no progress done...

my delicious got some items finally with great delays... this can be problem on side of delicious and its API...

I use Diigo to bookmark/tag into Diigo, Blinklist, del.icio.us and ma.gnolia which works very well, except:

If I edit the bookmark using the edit function from a list of bookmarks and, for instance change the tag(s) the change is not updated in the other services.

But, if I navigate to the bookmarked site and click on the Diigo button on the toolbar to bring up the full panel and change the tags and then Submit and Close the tags are updated across the other services.

Obviously I can work round by using the toolbar, but it would be good if the other method worked too.

It costs too much for us to sync the bookmarks by implementing save, delete, edit and other functions.
Could you like it to be a premium feature later?

Hi Joel

Sorry, I didn't make the bug report clearer.

The changes are written to the other services if you use the toolbar button, so the cost issue is irrelevant.

The problem is that the changes are not written if using the edit function from the bookmark list.

So the functionality is already present via the toolbar but the edit function from the bookmark list is not calling the same code to perform the update.

Regarding delete, if the functionality to update the bookmarks is present via the toolbar button it should be a minor change when calling the other services APIs to perform a delete.

Premium feature - no edit function is a bug, and delete a bug too.

1.Currently, the post to other services feature is done in the client side (toolbar), not in the server side.
2. If we provide the function you suggest in the post, the cost will be high when people do batch operations and other services may also ban our IP.

OK I understand about potential hazards for batch operations, so don't enable that functionality for batch operations.

However, if the functionality already exists in the toolbar, just ensure the same code is called when editing a bookmark from the bookmark list.

Delete of single bookmarks in other services shouldn't be hard to implement either and surely is a bug if synchronisation of other services is enabled via the options panel.

Bookmarks not deleted from other services

Hi, thought it sensible to separate these into two posts.

I use Diigo to bookmark/tag into Diigo, Blinklist, del.icio.us and ma.gnolia .

If I delete a bookmark using the delete function from a list of bookmarks it is only deleted in Diigo and not the other services.

I think that Diigo should delete from the other services too; although it would make sense for this to be an option somewhere.

importing from blinklist

I'd love to be able to use diigo, but I don't store my bookmarks locally. I use blinklist. I signed in to Blinklist, just to make sure, I clicked on Import (here on diigo), then Import from Blinklist button, then entered username/password, etc., then clicked on Import Now button. Nothing happens. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've attempted this. Yes, I'm signed into Blinklist, yes, browser is cleared and all the rest, and yes, I've tried signing out and back in again, closing the browser altogether, etc. It isn't difficult to do (I just don't want to waste anyone's time thinking I haven't done everyrhing I could do or perhaps I'm not doing it right).

I tried to work around it by just exporting from Blinklist to a file, then importing to local browser, but then all bookmarks lose tags (and I have over 1500) when imported to Diigo, and that's besides all the extra and unncessary characters that show up in each link that I'd have to clean up. Anyway, I don't want to do it this way, and since you do offer the option to import directly from Blinklist, I'd like to be able to use it.

Anyone have any ideas? I see nowhere on the site to leave feedback, to get support - this was the only place to leave this information.

Same problem here.

Just signed up today with Diigo and have attempted twice to import Blinklist links with no success. I have over 6400 links at Blinklist and do not want to re-tag.

I'd also like to know what if anything I can do to see a successfull Blinklist import. From what I've seen thus far, Diigo looks pretty impressive. Several features that I'm seeking/missing at Blinklist.

Thanks. I was able to do the importing throgh Delicious. I am enchanted with Diigo. It is the best.
