Does anyone else find the excessive advertising on Diigo annoying. It's in my Dashboard now and nearly fills my sidebar. Everywhere I go on the site, I'm bombarded. I understand the necessity of displaying ads, but please make some tasteful decisions about quantity and location. I was going to introduce my students to Diigo, but I think I'll look for less commercialized alternatives.

I agree - there are so many ads... :(

They can be on lists and for anonymous visitors, but they are too disturbing for real Diigo users.

Maybe there could be some "pro" accounts, like on last.fm. I'm sure that users would like to support Diigo directly (and get more friendly environment).

sorry that there do seem to be a little too many ads now. Please bear with us as we are experimenting with monetization models. The ads should be reduced over time, and yes, there will be a pro account option.

I don't like the ads on Diigo. It's clear to me, that you have to make money, but the large ads in the sidebar are terrible.

I remember Joel mentioning "advanced features" in one thread and i wonder if you will start offering paid Pro accounts. I'd be willing to pay $ 20 - $ 25 per year for even more features and if ads were disabled then.

I would consider paying 25 a year for the existing features and no ads. They are very annoying.

Thanks for your feedback and support.

We're experimenting with ad placements / locations to achieve a good balance. A paid premium version without ads will be available as alternative.

We do appreciate everyone's kind support, so that we can continue making diigo better and better!

I think that the ads became much more noticeable in the past week or so. I have only used Diigo for about 3 weeks, and I don't think i really noticed them until a recent change. Its like they went from the relatively unobtrusive text ads to the brightly colored picture ads.
