Diigo-Social Bookmarking | Exploring Web 2.0

Highlights and Sticky Notes:

I have found that it is pushed my research into websites into a broader realm. I like how easy it is to save my favorites. I am able to place highlights on the site as well as sticky notes. I can form groups to share sites and discuss the common goal of the group.

I would like to use it as a place to discuss a book that we will be reading. I think it will be a good place for researching the topic and discussing the topic.

Tags: diigo review

Posted by: maggie_diigo

protocolinpractice: Diigo - Supercharged Social Networwking Tool

Highlights and Sticky Notes:

Diigo - Supercharged Social Networwking Tool

Well I've just got on to Diigo and I guess it will take a while to play with all the features and explore, but it looks really exciting.

Yes, Diigo is another one - a social networking tool/site. But this one is different. It is more of an Internet Research tool.

And for those like me who spend a lot of time picking up scraps of info here and there on the net - Diigo is going to be invaluable.

Tags: diigo review

Posted by: maggie_diigo

I've been using Diigo since its earliest version and it is beginning to hit full stride with auto suggesting tags, public or private, Twitter feed check and a tremendous amount of flexibility.

Tags: diigo review

Posted by: maggie_diigo

Diigo: Survival of the Fittest ~ Highly recommended!!!

Highlights and Sticky Notes:

Darwin discovered natural selection, which went on to be made popular by Herbert Spencer as “the survival of the fittest.” Yesterday, I saw it being applied to Web 2.0. I have been a del.icio.us fan for some time now. del.icio.us is synonymous with social bookmarking, in fact, for all practical purposes, they invented it. In fact, I switched back from Firefox 3beta because there was no del.icio.us support.

Yet, del.icio.us never came out of Version 1 of this Web 2.0 phenomenon.

Along comes diigo. del.icio.us on steroids!

Changes the way you will use and share (and I really mean share) bookmarks. What they have done to social bookmarking is not rocket science, but they have done it. What they have done was never difficult, but being the one who does it first makes a lot of difference. I have happily switched from del.icio.us to diigo.com. And I am thrilled using it the last 18 hours.

Highly recommended!!!

Tags: diigo review

Posted by: maggie_diigo

Information and the Future: Diigo

Highlights and Sticky Notes:

At LOEX, I learned about a new tool called Diigo (www.diigo.com). It is similar to del.icio.us, but it allows users to add notes, bookmark and highlight. You can also send messages from it sharing links in Facebook, blogs, or twitter. They were recommending using it for research guides. This would allow students to personalize them. And librarians or faculty could add notes for specific classes.

Tags: diigo review

Posted by: maggie_diigo

Twelve Horses is a full-service relationship marketing and messaging company specializing in designing interactive communication solutions.

It’s great knowing that many workgroups and companies are discovering and finding Diigo to be quite useful for both personal productivity and effective collaborative research… reasons that inspire us to create Diigo in the very first place. Besides “What / Why Diigo”, we also chatted about “Why Reno / Tahoe”

Highlights and Sticky Notes:

Diigo is a social bookmarking site that is really giving the current champion, del.icio.us, a run for its money. It does everything that del.icio.us does (including simul-posting to your current del.icio.us account!) and so much more. From highlighting on a page, to adding sticky notes, to sharing bookmarks with groups, it really turns websurfing from a passive experience to a highly active one. Jennifer Dorman created the DEN group in Diigo a little over a week ago and there’s already over 50 members!

Tags: diigo education review

Posted by: maggie_diigo

Therefore, an online research tool will be very helpful in organizing gathered information while at the same time making it available to others for collaborative purposes. Diigo - a powerful online research tool fits perfectly for this need.

Diigo is a browser plugin that functions as a web highlighter, sticky notes, social bookmarking tool, and a social information network rolled into one. Once you have download and install the Diigo toolbar, you can start bookmarking websites, highlighting texts inside it, leaving comments and more.

Next, the knowledge sharing part of Diigo lets you share and discuss your findings with any available public or private groups. With Diigo, connecting with friends with similar interests can be done effortlessly through content sharing.

Features of Diigo

As a personal research tool, you can use Diigo to,

Bookmark, highlight texts and add sticky notes to any websites that you want. All changes are persistent - that means you can see the same highlighted texts when you are browsing through the same page again.

Group a web page with tags and lists.

Access all your research anywhere because all your bookmarks are stored online.

Search for a bookmark by a full text search, sticky notes, tags and more.

Share your research with others in multiple ways - send to blog, linkrolls, tagrolls, by email, post to other social bookmarking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Delicious, etc.

Automatically post findings to your blog with all the comments, highlights, etc.

Easily find the most popular content on Diigo to stay up to date with the hottest news.

Get recommended content based on your activities in Diigo.

Get related content while browsing the Internet - I recently stumbled a website with loads of useful comments from Diigo’s users.

Import bookmarks from other social bookmarking sites to Diigo.

The “Save Elsewhere ” feature allows you to simultaneously bookmark sites to Del.ico.us, Simpy or Ma.gnolia.

As a collaborative research platform, you can use Diigo to,

Join or create a private or public group to share and collaborate with people of the same interests.

Add private sticky notes that are visible to only members of the same group. This creates a platform for instant discussion (or debate!)

Group tag - to enforce tagging consistency within a group, the group admin can set a list of recommended tags to be used by other team members.

Get recommended news from your Diigo’s friends - from Diigo’s sidebar, you can also see who is currently reading the same page too!

Extract comments / notes by other users on a website.

After testing Diigo for a while, I love the fact that Diigo maintains all the annotations and comments that I’ve previously left on a web page, which speeds up future revisions on all of my previous findings. Furthermore, there are many specific public groups to join that will definitely help to expand my knowledge.

Diigo, in my opinion, is not only an online research tool; it is a living knowledge sharing community.

Tags: diigo review

Posted by: maggie_diigo
