Romulus and Remus did not build Rome. And yet each of these characters provided attitudes and goals for their accumulating citizens which attracted (some would say created) the merchants, craftsmen, and tastemakers of their eras. As our efforts generate social and technical momentum we must look to the successes and failures of civic planning to guide our diverse efforts as we enter the era of online cities.
