As i don't mean to produce it sound like I do believe all retirement towns are bad sites. We've come a considerable ways from the "old folks' home" where by elders were essentially just warehoused until such time as they died. Although, to be truthful, there are still plenty of those depressing places available!
But there are retirement communities which happen to have pools and wellness clubs, that take residents on trips, and where the people locally actually help run the city.
And that's wonderful! But think concerning this-do you really want to spend your retirement in the retirement community, just hanging out with other people your real age and occasionally with all your kids? Or do you need to create a serious second life for yourself where you are out in the complete community, mixing it in place with people of all ages, and contributing together with experiencing as much or even more in your retirement than you are now?
Because here's the thing-retirement communities are expensive. And the further you depart the depressing aged folks' home model, the more expensive they are.
Do you want to spend all to your retirement income just to have a place to stay, no matter how nice that place may be? Or do you intend to spend it traveling, trying new passions, or maybe taking classes or becoming another degree?
This can be a number one reason i encourage the females I work with in which to stay their own buildings. You can even downsize to an inexpensive home to free up even more to your post-retirement money for doing the things you should do.
And in truth? There are lots of apartment communities that have most of the same amenities as retirement communities minus the hefty price tag.
The thing is, if we strategy correctly and pick it for ourselves, our retirement can literally be described as a second life, which second life can be even better than our first. We could start our own personal businesses, see the modern world, and become and stay active within causes that matter to us.
When you feel about it, the whole pension community trend is just a pretty new face on the not-so-pretty idea with what aging means. It's the identical idea our parents and grandparents grew up with-retirees, like children, were to be sometimes seen but seldom heard. If they weren't working themselves to their graves, our elders were supposed to shuffle themselves off of to "homes" so they really wouldn't be an encumbrance on their people.

Nevertheless our generation is facing more years of life when retirement than any kind of before us faced. A good amount of us are going to live to be 100 and even older, and if we take care of ourselves, those can be healthy, active, and enjoyable years!
That's so why you won't find me within a retirement community, and I would recommend that you avoid them, too. We've got a lot of years of real living ahead of us.
