The area of specialization that you chose as an NP also plays a role in determining the salary that you are getting. An NP specializing in Intensive Care Unit, Acute Care or Case Management is higher than the salary of an NP working in other areas. This is due to the fact that working in a stressful and high-pressure environment needs an NP who can stay calm and professional while managing patients in this kind of environment.
As a nurse practitioner you will often work in a doctors office or clinic and only be required to do 40 hours mostly between 8-5, but possibly as early as 7 or as late as 8, depending on the office or clinic. You will also be in a career that many people value and seek to find love with those who are in it, so you may find yourself a hot item at a party or club.
The survey also revealed that a massive 53% of us would not share our salary details with our families. But interestingly we are interested in knowing what our colleagues earn with five out of ten admitting that. But a staggering 70% wouldn't tolerate having their salary details disclosed to their colleagues. Its seems to be the over 55's that weren't so bothered about knowing their colleagues earning as only 29% said they would be interested as opposed to 72% of 18-24 year olds.
If you want to be a nurse practitioner then you may need to go to school for eight years, so it's important that before you go through eight years of schooling you want to do as much research as possible on this career choice.
For nurses license is provided by the State Board of Nursing. However most hospitals don't require any license to work as a nurse and you can work as a nurse without having a certificate.
To give the doctors opportunity to take care of the overall health condition of the patients, nurses are given training on using the latest medical devices to observe and evaluate the condition of the patients. The use of the latest technology in the hospitals has greatly benefited the healthcare sector. To deal with the emergency patients, they are also given training to operate the latest technological devices of the medical sector.
Kindness and empathy are qualities that every nurse should possess. A nurse should be calm and kind to patients, even if they are aggressive. A nurse should understand the pain and suffering of the patients. He/she should provide comfort and sympathy to the patients, instead of getting angry with them.
Careers give us goals to shoot for. We will go to school for years so that we can learn everything we can about our careers. Nursing is a career that is particularly rewarding because it serves people. Many of us love out careers so much that we do not even need an alarm clock. We jump out of bed every day and strive to make of ourselves look as best we can.
