Be sure to include if your item is popular with others (how many have sold,) if the item comes with instructions that are easy to understand, what the specific and detailed benefits the item provides, if you offer extra help with assembly or care, if the item is available for immediate deliver, and mention what other people have said about you as a seller or product testimonials when available.

eBay supposedly conducts more transactions per day than the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ. That's some pretty impressive numbers when you stop and think about it. That means that more then 724,000 Americans use eBay as their primary or secondary source of income with another 1.5 million Americans using it to supplement their income by selling their wares.

Unfortunately eBay has been turning away sellers and is making harder for sellers to make a profit using their services unless the sellers are power sellers and have large online stores. Recently eBay raised their monthly subscription fee from $9.95 to $15.95 and their 10 day listing fee from 20 cents to 40 cents. The competition is getting stiffer and eBay no longer allows sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers that are less than honest and like to stiff the sellers. As a matter of fact, sellers have actually been getting taken advantage of by some buyers who do not feel that they are shipping things fast enough, charging too much for shipping, and other issues. Buyers can leave negative feedback for sellers, but not vice versa. It's become a bit one sided.

eBay does have the advantage of plenty of traffic on its site, but sellers new to auctioning get lost in the shuffle. That is why finding an eBay Alternatives, may be the better way for small sellers to go. They will find that other sites are less expensive, more user-friendly, and can be more diversified in their categories. Plus, many of these eBay alternatives are niche sites, allowing you to streamline what your selling, such as autograph auctions, collector items auctions, and sites dedicated to just selling musical instruments and equipment.

Niche sites are geared towards collectors and enthusiasts, such as wine, pens and pencils, lab and musical equipment, beaded jewelry, pottery and more. Overstock.com is an auction site that is geared towards women's items and Amazon.com has recently opened up an auction site that works in conjunction to their regular marketplace. Liquidation auction sites are great for anyone who needs to sell large quantities of inventory items. Local buyer auction sites are designed for the large items - think appliances or cars - in the local area and not on the global scale. Live auction sites are geared for the sale of your product on a 'last minute basis'.

Of course you also have the option of creating your own online e-commerce website. Buyers can purchase items directly from you and you can use your own form of checkout service and payment methods that you are comfortable with. You're not locked into payment sites such as PayPal. The downside of this eBay alternative is that you will have to attract your own customers through advertising.

There is a wide range of auction sites available for you to utilize other than eBay as well as plenty of information available to help you get started with one of these other sites. Research the sites well so you understand their policies and have fun getting your products and services sold.
