Earlier this week, a 2nd grade teacher came by and asked, “I want to teach kids dialogue in their writing using comics. Is there a free program that helps me do that?” The answer is a definite YES. There are several programs online that you can use. Although we quickly stumbled upon BitStrips.com as a simple tool–which is what I used to make the comic above–I knew there were other tools available, as well…through Thinkfinity.org. - Miguel guhlin

I'm thinking of "test driving" Thinkfinity during our summer session. We have secondary teachers from all over the district working on one campus and I've been knighted as the "default" tech specialist. Hopefully it will catch on and, like a hardy virus, spread throughout our schools once the fall semester gets underway.

Summer will be a good opportunity as we have library computers and a couple of CI labs available. It's also an environment in which teachers are strongly encouraged to differentiate. Wish me luck! This might just catch on! - Daniel Baham

I am not sure how I am going to present Thinkfinity yet. I will be meeting with the rest of the technology facilitators in my district to develop a plan. I am not back to work until the end of July... that is when I will really get busy.

I spent two days in a Thinkfinity training seminar last week. I saw many WOW resources, but my two favorites (so far) are:

I'm thinking about using the bio cube to introduce the American Revolutionaries to eighth graders in the fall.

Character Trading Cards http://www.readwritethink.org/student_mat/student_material.asp?id=56
I can see using these not just for literature, but also for history and as something the kids can create for Open House, using themselves as the "character". They definitely are ALL characters!
