If you're a musician like I am you have at one point wished you could slow down a recording you heard so that it could be easier to play along to. I know I have. It turns out that there are programs made especially for slowing down MP3 and other audio tracks. One in particular is called "Pitch Switch", but don't let the name throw you, it can slow down MP3s, WAVs and M4A files from iTunes. Once you buy the software you can use it to slow down any number of number of tracks. You just load your MP3 file like you would in any other music software and move the tempo slider to slow down or speed up the tempo of the track. Pitch Switch provides the speed (tempo) in the lower right hand part of the software window.
Pitch Switch can do more than just slow down your songs. It can adjust the pitch of your MP3s too. You can change the pitch of any MP3 in semitone increments using the "Pitch" slider (it's as easy as slowing down MP3s). As you drag the sliders the pitch (and tempo) change in real time, so you can adjust it by ear if you want. Pretty amazing.
The next thing I should say is that you can also store your modified songs. Once you slow down a song (or change the pitch) you can save it as a new file and transfer it on your MP3 player. I've found Pitch Switch to be super powerful and I highly recommend you try it too. You can download a free trial from their web site www.pitch-switch.com. There is a free trial for download on their web site at pitch-switch.com.
