In this Adobe photoshop CS5 article, we have a look at one of the smaller but extremely useful new features in Adobe photoshop CS5 - to be able to both align and crop photos using a simple click!

In past versions of Adobe photoshop, finding out how to align a crooked image was really a bit of a challenge. The truth is, if you didn't have someone to show you how to undertake this, there's a pretty good chance you will never have thought it out. This is mainly because the procedure was in no way intuitive. You would assume that after years of upgrades to the world's most widely used and effective graphic manager, Adobe could have included a straightforward "Straighten" option somewhere, yet regretfully, that had not been the situation, at least up to now!

The Crop Tool provides various applications:

    - To get rid of unwanted elements of a graphic

    - To spin a photo

    - To expand the canvas region

Cropping a picture on Photoshop CS5 is a simple but crucial process. Cropping suggests to get rid of all parts of the image which are not essential to the composition.

Cropping is particularly important in Adobe photoshop. Every pixel, no matter what shade, uses up the same amount of data, so cropping eliminates unwanted pixels and will save on file size and also processing time. As a result, you need to resize images before you begin working with them.

You are able to resize a graphic in Adobe photoshop CS5 in several ways:

    - Utilize the Crop tool.

    - Choose a region with the Marquee tool and choose image to Resize.

In order to crop an image with the Crop tool, follow these steps:

    1. Press C gain access to the Crop tool and then drag about the area of the graphic you want to resize.

    2. If you want to fine-tune the crop area, pull the handles in the crop bounding area.

    3. Whenever you are happy about the crop bounding area, double-click inside the center of the crop area or press your Return or Enter key in order to crop the picture.

    4. If you wish to cancel the resize, press your Esc key.

Ever scan in a picture which finishes up crooked? When using the Crop tool, in the event you position the cursor outside any handle, a rotate icon shows up. Drag the crop bounding area to rotate it and line it up the way you want it cropped. When you press Return or Enter, your picture straightens out.

An uncomplicated crop with Adobe photoshop CS5

    - Select the Crop Tool.

    - Place the cursor in a top corner plus drag it diagonally over the image.

    - Drag one of the small square handles on one of the sides into the image to crop out the undesired edge.

    - All 4 sides can be treated separately.

    - To alter any vertical and horizontal side simultaneously, move a corner handle into the image.

    - Moving a corner handle into the image whilst holding Shift keeps the cropping in proportion.

    - To adjust two opposite sides in equally, hold Alt and move one of the side handles into the photo.
