    To produce it short, you have 2 main different types of traffic:

    1) Search engine traffic

    What is it?: organic traffic coming from search engine listings such as Google, Google, MSN

    Pros:

    - The following traffic is free

    - Traffic is highly zeroed in on

    - Volume of traffic can be quite high

    Cons:

    - you don't control it

    - you depend upon robots to analyze your websites and deliver some site visitors

    - you have to get indexed... without being de-indexed (all over again, you rely on search engine listings policy and algorithms)

    - short term

    2) Referred Traffic

    (I realize Search engine traffic is also sort of referred traffic, but let's put SE traffic in addition to the this category)

    What is it?

    Traffic coming from third party sites (other than search engines) and is a result of a "manual / human" action.

    Examples: article directories, social bookmarking services,

    boards, partners, text link ads, banners, directories, rss...

    Professional player:

    - people control it

    - you will have a lot of means to develop it

    (almost unlimited; a lot are free)

    - it's highly targeted

    - You may pay to get far better targeting and control

    over your known traffic

    - Long term

    Cons:

    - Time & resources consuming

    - Bump tasks

    my readings of other forums, Actually, i know that most webmasters

    your site

    3) Produce a blog (if people don't have one) and post for a regular

    basis on it. Use a service enjoy feedburner to syndicate your articles
